To celebrate its 50th anniversary and the upcoming 250th anniversary of the United States, ABC’s “Good Morning America” is launching a new yearlong series, “50 States in 50 Weeks: America the Beautiful.”
Starting Thursday, July 3, an anchor or correspondent will visit a new state each week, following the order in which they joined the United States, to spotlight a local changemaker and showcase the state’s unique culture, history, traditions and landmarks with viewers invited to nominate inspiring individuals in their communities who are making a meaningful impact.
“50 States in 50 Weeks: America the Beautiful” will run through July 2026, celebrating the milestone in a heartfelt way with audiences nationwide.

“This series is a chance for us to explore the country and share stories that reflect the heart of each state,” said Simone Swink, senior executive producer of “Good Morning America.” “We’re looking forward to meeting people, highlighting what makes each state special, and proudly keeping the ‘A’ in ‘GMA.’”
The journey kicks off in Delaware, the first state to be admitted to the United States, where chief meteorologist Ginger Zee will feature the heroic lifeguards of Rehoboth Beach who are keeping the community safe all summer long.
“I can’t think of a better way to kick off this journey than in Delaware, our very first state,” said Ginger Zee, chief meteorologist. “Meeting the Rehoboth Beach lifeguards and seeing their commitment to community and safety perfectly captures the spirit of what this series is all about, especially ahead of Fourth of July weekend.”
Additional coverage from “50 States in 50 Weeks: America the Beautiful” will air on “GMA3,” ABC News Live and the ABC News digital and social platforms.
Featuring the anchor team of Robin Roberts, George Stephanopoulos, Michael Strahan and chief meteorologist Ginger Zee, “Good Morning America” airs live Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. ET on ABC.
