Returning for the second half of its first season last week with the release of an additional eight episodes for a total of 16, “Tyler Perry’s Beauty in Black” has been renewed for a second season, the streaming service announced on Wednesday.

Like Season 1, Season 2 will also be released in two parts.

The series follows two women leading very different lives. While Kimmie (Taylor Polidore Williams), a stripper struggling to make a living after her mother kicked her out, Mallory (Crystle Stewart) is running a successful business. Ultimately, they find themselves entangled in each other’s lives when Kimmie’s fate takes a surprising turn after she crosses paths with the wealthy, dysfunctional family behind a cosmetics dynasty and a devious trafficking scheme.

“We left fans on the edge of their seats at the end of Season 1, and we’re thrilled to continue Kimmie’s journey as she steps into her power as the newest member of the Bellarie family,” said Parry, the show’s creator, director, writer and executive producer, in an interview Tudum. “Kimmie exemplifies the spirit of never underestimating the underdog, and I can’t wait for fans to continue to see her story unfold. If you thought Season 1 was a wild ride, you’re not ready for Season 2.”

Produced by Tyler Perry Studios, producers include Will Areu, Angi Bones and Tony L. Strickland for Tyler Perry Studios, with Shornell Young leading up the hair department and Syretta Bell running things in the make-up department. Raiyonda Vereen is the show’s costume designer, while Wow Jones & Jimi Jame$ oversee the music.

In addition to Taylor Polidore Williams as Kimmie and Crystle Stewart as Mallory, the cast also includes Amber Reign Smith as Rain, Ricco Ross as Horace, Debbi Morgan (“All My Children”) as Olivia, Richard Lawson as Norman, Steven G. Norfleet as Charles, Julian Horton as Roy, Terrell Carter as Varney, Shannon Wallace as Calvin, Bryan Tanaka as Officer Alex, Joy Rovaris as Gillian, Xavier Smalls as Angel, Charles Malik Whitfield as Jules, Tamera “Tee” Kissen as Body, Ursula O. Robinson as Delinda, Ashley Versher as Lena and George Middlebrook as Officer Trackson.

According to the services Global Top 10 TV shows chart for the week of March 3-9, 2025, the drama series ranked sixth on the list with 3.8 million views out of 47.8 million hours viewed with a total run time of 12 hours, 36 minutes for the full 16-episode release. The show was also No. 1 in seven countries, including the Bahamas, Guadeloupe, Jamaica, Martinique, Trinidad and Tobago, Nigeria and Kenya.
