Hulu on Thursday dropped a fresh “IMPACTxNightline” episode titled “IMPACTxNightline: “What’s Happening with Wendy Williams?” where the beleaguered former talk show host discusses her court-appointed guardianship, her dementia diagnosis and living in the memory unit of a healthcare facility.
Produced by ABC News Studios, the episode is led by “Nightline” co-anchor Byron Pitts and features a new audio interview with Wendy Williams, and interviews with those close to her, including her brother, Tommy Williams, and her friends Sunny Hostin, a former federal prosecutor and co-host of “The View,” and Jason Lee, CEO of Hollywood Unlocked.
Additional interviews include Henry Brown, Wendy Williams’ former colleague at KISS FM 98.7; Janine Rubenstein, editor-at-large, PEOPLE magazine; Dr. Leah Croll, neurologist; Kelley Carter, senior entertainment reporter, Andscape; and Brian Buckmire, ABC News legal contributor.
According to a logline, Wendy Williams has broken her silence on her guardianship, challenging her dementia diagnosis and pleading for her independence. “IMPACT x Nightline” speaks with Williams and dives deep into her case as her guardian calls for her to be reevaluated.
Last week, Williams’ guardian Sabrina Morrissey called for a “new medical evaluation” in a court filing after the former talk show host made an appearance on “The Breakfast Club,” claiming she wasn’t “incapacitated,” PEOPLE reported.
“I don’t have frontotemporal dementia…it’s disgusting,” Williams commented on the radio program on the Wednesday, February 5 episode of the radio show. “That’s a very rare thing for anybody to have.”
“I’m not incapacitated,” she added. “I am not a baby.”
Morrissey is actively suing A&E Networks, Lifetime Entertainment and its affiliated companies, stemming from the Lifetime airing of the docuseries “Where is Wendy Williams?” in 2023, claiming the entities “shamelessly exploits [Williams] and portrays her in an extremely demeaning and undignified manner.”
In the filing, it’s said that “This case arises from the brutally calculated, deliberate actions of powerful and cravenly opportunistic media companies working together with a producer to knowingly exploit [Williams].”
For 12 of the show’s 13 seasons, Wendy Williams hosted the popular daytime talk show “The Wendy Williams Show,” which was produced and distributed in national syndication by Debmar-Mercury.
