Known to be a bit hyperbolic when it comes to his status at “General Hospital,” often claiming to have been “written out” or his “run is done,” only to return shortly thereafter, this time actor Kin Shriner appears to be done for good as Scott Baldwin on the ABC daytime drama series, according to some of his recent posts on X (formerly Twitter).
In response to fans inquiring about when his next appearance on the soap opera might be, Shriner claims to have “no plans” of returning. Further, he said a flat “no” when a fan asked that very question.
Shriner’s comments came earlier this month after he made a post highlighting the anniversary of Luke and Laura’s (Genie Francis and Anthony Geary) wedding.
In the post, he said, “Me and Elizabeth Taylor were the original wedding crashes [sic] , Iam ok with that !!!” His Taylor reference came as he shared a screenshot of a magazine layout highlighting himself and the late icon from when they appeared in the legendary wedding episode.
In more recent posts, after fans pointed out that Robert Scorpio (Tristan Rogers) had left Port Charles, making it an opportune time for Scott to take over as District Attorney, an avid viewer said, “They can not send you to for donuts and that’s your exit!” In response, Shriner noted, “Well it looks that way Iam just an actor but thanks.”
Speaking of Robert Scorpio, his departure also means that Diane Miller (Carolyn Hennesy) is available, with one poster saying, “Scott you need to get back to Port Charles Diane is available we miss you #GH.” In response, Shriner stated, “Thank u for the interest in Scotty but I have no control over anything that goes on at gh .”
Shriner also responded to a fan who commented, “Missing your scenes with the divine Lynn Herring [Lucy Coe], Sir.” The post included a snapshot of a 1989 TV Weekly cover featuring the pair, to which Shriner said, “Thanks we had a great run !!! @GeneralHospital and #portcharles which is now on utube.”
Although Shriner has played the role of Scott Baldwin off and on since 1977, including his time on “Port Charles,” the actor is on recurring status with “General Hospital,” which means an actor is not guaranteed air time and can be called in only when there is storyline for their character. Further, the show currently has roughly two dozen actors on recurring status at any given time.
Outside of X, Shriner can also be found on Instagram. He does not have a Facebook account and he currently does not have an account on Bluesky. As for when one might be able to read some of his life stories, autobiographical style, Shriner pointed out recently, “I like to regale people with Hollywood stories in person nothing in writing!”
