CBS’ broadcast of “The 51st Annual Daytime Emmy Awards” averaged 2.82 million viewers during its two-hour telecast on Friday, June 7, according to fast national audience data released by Nielsen over the weekend.

The ceremony delivered its largest audience since 2020, up +39% from last year’s telecast, which aired in December due to the dual Hollywood strikes, and up +1% from 2022 when the show last aired in June.

Streaming viewership across Paramount+ and CBS TVE (CBS App/CBS.com) was up +87% year-over-year, setting a new live streaming audience record for the Daytime Emmys.

On X (formerly Twitter), #DaytimeEmmys trended for over five hours, ranking as high as third place. Overall, social media engagement reached as much as 310 million impressions, keeping it in line with last year’s figures, which drew 312 million impressions.

The improved ratings performance for the Daytime Emmys comes just as CBS and The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) prepare to discuss whether to continue their exclusive broadcast partnership which has seen the network carrying the awards show exclusively for five consecutive years. This year marked the 18th time CBS has aired the awards show since it was first conceived in 1974.

“General Hospital” was the night’s biggest winner, sweeping all three non-acting categories, including Outstanding Daytime Drama Series, Oustanding Writing Team for a Daytime Drama Series and Outstanding Directing Team for a Daytime Drama Series.
