In rare form for CBS, the network will air encore episodes of “The Bold and the Beautiful” and “The Young and the Restless” on the July 4th Holiday (Independence Day), likely due to the ongoing Writers Strike impacting television and film productions across the United States as sources tell Soap Opera Network that the network is using the holiday to conserve on scripts written before the strike began in May.
On “The Young and the Restless,” John Abbott (the late Jerry Douglas) hosts family and friends for a special July 4th celebration in an episode first aired on July 3, 1992 (#4896).
“The Bold and the Beautiful” features an episode first aired on July 4, 2018 (#7874), wherein Liam (Scott Clifton) is emotionally overwhelmed when Hope (Annika Noelle) confides in him about her current condition. Sally (Courtney Hope, now appearing on “The Young and the Restless”) decorates for the holiday as she and Wyatt (Darin Brooks) discuss her future at Forrester.
Last month, “The Young and the Restless” honored the late Jerry Douglas with a standalone episode featuring classic clips and a guest appearance by the actor’s widow, Kym Douglas, who appeared as Zelda, a literary agent supporting Traci Abbott (Beth Maitland).
