THE NUMBERS

During the week of June 12-16, 2023, most daytime broadcast shows, with few exceptions, were preempted all or in part on Tuesday, June 13, due to ongoing news coverage surrounding former President Donald J. Trump, who has been charged with 37 felonies, including 31 counts under the Espionage Act of “willful retention” of classified records. News coverage included Trump’s arrival, arraignment and departure from a federal courthouse.

For the week, “The Price is Right” (3.760 million / 4.344 million) once again led the charge among Total Viewers and topped the list in both Women 18-49 and Women 25-54 rating. The first half-hour was up week-to-week and the comparable weeks last year and in 2021 among Women 18-49 (0.5 vs. 0.4 rating). The second half-hour was also up week-to-week and the comparable week last year in Women 25-54 (0.8 vs. 0.7 rating), and it also managed to show increases across the board (week-to-week, last year and two years ago). Overall, the second half-hour was the week’s biggest gainer in both Women 18-49 and Women 25-54 rating, both compared to last week and the same week last year.

The Young and the Restless” (3.353 million) saw a week-to-week increase, gaining +109,000 viewers over last week, while also being up year-to-year (+80,000 viewers) and compared to the same week two years ago (+169,000 viewers). The series was also up week-to-week and the comparable week last year in Women 18-49 (0.4 vs 0.3 rating).

For the fifth consecutive week, “NBC News Daily” (1.036 million) ranked last among Women 18-49 with an unpleasant 0.1 rating, placing it last among all daytime broadcast shows in the key sales demographic. Compared to the same week last year, the timeslot which was previously occupied by “Days of our Lives” performed much healthier, with a 0.2 rating in the demo. “NBC News Daily,” along with “General Hospital” (2.056 million) and “GMA3: What You Need to Know” (1.445 million), were the only daytime broadcast shows to see week-to-week decreases among Total Viewers, despite Tuesday being excluded from their weekly averages.

What follows is a breakdown of how the daytime broadcast shows performed during the week of June 12-16, 2023 in Women 18-49 Rating, Women 25-54 Rating, Households and Total Viewers, including a look at their comparable performance last year (2022) and two years ago (2021), respectively. A closer look at the daytime soaps, including their daily performance breakdown in the demos, will be posted Thursday.
