On Friday, May 19 at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT, fans of the Hannah Swensen Mystery series will get their latest fix when Hallmark Movies & Mysteries premieres “Carrot Cake Murder: A Hannah Swensen Mystery” starring Alison Sweeney (“Days of our Lives”) and Cameron Mathison (“General Hospital”). This marks the second movie under the “A Hannah Swensen Mystery” banner but the seventh overall in the series, which started in 2015 under the “Murder, She Baked” moniker.
In the latest installment, the discovery of a skeleton amid the rubble of a building undergoing renovation reveals that one of Lake Eden’s beloved citizens is not who he claimed to be. Much to the dismay of her fiancé, Detective Mike Kingston (Mathison), Hannah (Sweeney) begins to investigate the case independently. As she tries to piece together the events that led to the murder and learn the victim’s true identity, Hannah even calls on her mother, Delores (Barbara Niven), as she works to bring the killer to justice and uncover the truth. Gabriel Hogan (“Heartland”) from the original cast returns as Norman Rhodes. Sweeney serves as an executive producer.
The movie’s cast also includes Tess Atkins as Michelle, Mike Dopud as Sheriff Ron Ealing, Danny Wattley as Eugene Crenshaw, Gabrielle Miller as Julianne Carlson, Juliana Wimbles as Lisa, Daylin Willis as Lonny, Julia Benson as Diana Graves, Doug Abrahams as Travis Gardner, Blair Penner as Joe Gardner, Heather-Claire Nortey as Natalie, Roger Haskett as Locksmith and Arthur Seve as Jerry McDowell.
In addition to Sweeney, Craig Baumgarten, Melissa Salmons, Jamie Goehring, Shawn Williamson and Pat Williams all serve as executive producers in the Lighthouse Pictures production in association with Looking Glass Productions. Jonathan Shore is a supervising producer and Kevin Leslie is a producer. Associate producers are B.F. Painter and John J. Fluke.
The movie was directed by Pat Williams from a script written by Melissa Salmons and is based on the book “Carrot Cake Murder” by Joanne Fluke.
