DAYTIME EMMYS: ‘The Young and the Restless’ Leads in Nominations Preview

"The Young and the Restless" leads all shows thus far with six Daytime Emmy Award nominations in a preview of the full list, releasing Wednesday, April 26.

UPDATED: As previously reported, five key categories were previewed this evening on “Access Hollywood,” “Entertainment Tonight,” “Extra” and “E! News” in anticipation of the full nominations list for “The 50th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards,” set to be announced tomorrow, April 26.

The categories previewed on the entertainment news shows included Outstanding Lead Performance in a Daytime Drama Series: Actor, Outstanding Lead Performance in a Daytime Drama Series: Actress, Outstanding Daytime Talk Series, Outstanding Daytime Talk Series Host and Outstanding Daytime Drama Series.

Among the five categories released thus far, “The Young and the Restless” leads all shows with six nominations, followed by “The Bold and the Beautiful” and “General Hospital,” each tied with three nominations. “Days of our Lives” received two nominations. “The Bay” received one nomination. Each soap opera is nominated for Daytime Drama Series, which is included in their totals.

By network, CBS has nine nominations thus far, while ABC has three and NBC/Peacock has two.

What follows is a breakdown of nominees for “The 50th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards,” first previewed on “Access Hollywood,” “Entertainment Tonight,” “Extra” and “E! News.”

  • Billy Flynn (Chad DiMera, “Days of our Lives”) – NBC/Peacock
  • Thorsten Kaye (Ridge Forrester, “The Bold and the Beautiful”) – CBS
  • Jason Thompson (Billy Abbott, “The Young and the Restless” – CBS

Outstanding Lead Performance in a Daytime Drama Series: Actress

  • Sharon Case (Sharon Newman, “The Young and the Restless”) – CBS
  • Melissa Claire Egan (Chelsea Lawson, “The Young and the Restless”) – CBS
  • Finola Hughes (Anna Devane, “General Hospital”) – ABC
  • Michelle Stafford (Phyllis Summers, “The Young and the Restless”) – CBS
  • Jacqueline MacInnes Wood (Steffy Forrester, “The Bold and the Beautiful”) – CBS

Taking place at the Westin Bonaventure in Los Angeles, “The 50th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards” is set to air LIVE on Friday, June 16 at 9:00 p.m. ET/delayed PT. The telecast will also be available to stream live and On Demand on Paramount+*.
