Get ready for the return of Shemar Moore on “The Young and the Restless,” albeit briefly.

Deadline reports that Moore is set to reprise his role as Malcolm Winters on the daytime drama series for a single episode, airing Monday, May 8

According to a story breakdown, Malcolm returns to Genoa City to connect with his daughter, Lily (Christel Khalil), nephew Devon (Bryton James) and his stepson Nate (Sean Dominic) from a prior relationship with Nate’s mother, Olivia (Tonya Williams).

For a refresher, Lily was determined to be the biological daughter of Malcolm from a one night stand with Lily’s mother, Drucilla (Victoria Rowell). At the time, Dru thought she had slept with her husband, Neil (the late Kristoff St. John), Malcolm’s brother, while under the influence of cold medicine. Devon was adopted by Dru and Neil in 2006.

In 2019, Moore reprised his role as Malcolm to help honor the life of his friend and former scene partner, Kristoff St. John. As part of the tribute to the actor, the soap dedicated a series of episodes to St. John and his character, including a one-hour special aired in the show’s timeslot that featured a reunion of current and former cast members as they remembered their former co-star.

Moore, who left the soap in 2005 to join the cast of “Criminal Minds,” won a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for his portrayal of Malcolm. Since 2017, the actor has led the cast of “S.W.A.T.,” the hit CBS drama series where he portrays the iconic Sergeant Daniel “Hondo” Harrelson. The series is reportedly on the bubble for a seventh season renewal by the network.

The Young and the Restless” is currently celebrating its 50th year on television, debuting March 26, 1973. The soap is already renewed for the 2023-2024 television season.
