THE NUMBERS

During the week of August 1-5, 2022, every daytime broadcast series saw week to week losses among Total Viewers except for “TODAY 3rd Hour” (2.022 million) and “TODAY with Hoda & Jenna” (1.512 million). “Days of our Lives” (1.666 million) and “GMA3: What You Need to Know” (1.576 million) saw the smallest week to week drops, down just -4,000 and -6,000 viewers, respectively.

Compared to the same week last year, only “The Young and the Restless” (3.312 million), “The Bold and the Beautiful” (3.028 million) and “The View” (2.245 million) declined among Total Viewers. Meanwhile, NBC’s continued coverage of the delayed 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games preempted its lineup one year earlier.

Elsewhere, this week marks two years since “General Hospital” (2.102 million) returned to originals after the pandemic shutdown in early 2020, making it the second soap to resume airing all-new episodes since returning to production in July 2020. The soap is up +195,000 viewers over the same period in 2020 and up another +4,000 viewers compared to the same week last year.

Despite airing repeats all week, both half hours of “The Price is Right” (3.651 million / 4.207 million) and “Let’s Make a Deal” (2.250 million / 2.650 million), and “The Talk” (1.429 million), each saw year to year increases.
