THE SCOOP

Wes Ramsey’s run as Peter August on “General Hospital” has come to an end, and this time it doesn’t appear to be a fakeout. On the Wednesday, February 23 episode, his character perished after succumbing to injuries incurred at the hands of Felicia Scorpio (Kristina Wagner) as she saved her daughter, Maxie (Kirsten Storms), from Peter once and for all.

In the episode, Peter was hit over the head with a tire iron that Felicia found in the trunk of her rental car while Peter was shown pointing a gun at Maxie, threatening to shoot her if she didn’t come away with him which Maxie refused. After being hit in the head, Peter slid down an embankment and fell into the snowy ground below, visibly unconscious. Maxie then picked up Peter’s gun which had fallen by his side. Later, with their guns drawn, Anna (Finola Hughes) and Drew (Cameron Mathison) come across Felicia’s crashed car and follow their trail until they see what has happened to Peter. Seeing that Peter needs medical attention, Anna tells the group that she’ll call for an ambulance even though the world would be better off without Peter who had regained consciousness moments earlier. Drew ushers Felica and Maxie away after Anna makes it clear to Felicia that she did nothing wrong – she was protecting her daughter in self-defense.

After ensuring no one is left around to hear them, it becomes abundantly clear that Anna did not call for an ambulance after all. In fact, she wanted to be there when Peter died, telling him that Maxie and Louise no longer had to fear for their lives with him gone. In the end, Anna wishes Peter to be at peace as he dies with his eyes wide open. A tearful Anna who had been holding his hand until the end closed Peter’s eyes and walked away from his body, leaving viewers to still have a suspicion that Peter could come back later as a twin or an alive Peter. Except, portrayer Wes Ramsey recently posted what would appear to be a goodbye and thank you note to the fans, producers, writers and his co-stars.

“Thank you for taking the journey with me,” began Ramsey’s message posted on Instagram. “To those who were kind & supportive, my heart has felt inspired by you. To my friends & family (& the fans everywhere), it has been an honor to give everything I had to this & I will never forget how fun it was to entertain you.

“To the cast & crew, thank you for welcoming me into your world & for giving me a chance to play with you each day. To the writers, producers & directors, thank you for trusting me with all we did together. It was one helluva ride…”

Ramsey closed out his post using the hashtags “GH,” “Peter August,” “Actor’s Life” and “My Dreams Came True.”

Real-life love Laura Wright who plays Carly Corinthos on the soap responded to Ramsey’s post, saying, “I love you baby !!!! You kicked ass !!!”

Hughes also commented, stating, “It was a privilege to play opposite you, thank you for always being present, available and having grace and integrity to boot. Love ya Wes. Thank you for being a chilling yet wounded character. You left it all on the stage…..”

Ramsey joined the cast of “General Hospital” in 2017 as Peter August, also known as Henrik Faison. The character was the son of Cesar Faison and Alex Devane. He had a daughter with Maxie who decided to keep away from Peter by pretending the child, Louise, had been kidnapped all the while she was living in plain sight being raised by Brook Lynn Quartermaine (Amanda Setton) who passed her off as her daughter, Bailey Lois Quartermaine.

Prior to his run on “General Hospital,” Ramsey starred in “Venice: The Series,” “CSI: Miami” and “Guiding Light,” among others. In 2009, he had a role on “Days of our Lives.” In 2003, he starred in the critically acclaimed cult classic, “Latter Days,” playing Christian Markelli, a promiscuous gay party animal who falls in love with a Mormon missionary (Steve Sandvoss).
