‘General Hospital’ Actress Sofia Mattsson Officially Becomes a Citizen of the United States

Congratulations are in order for "General Hospital" star Sofia Mattsson (Sasha) who recently announced she is now officially a citizen of the United States.

General Hospital” actress Sofia Mattsson (Sasha Gilmore) announced on Instagram yesterday that she is now officially a citizen of the United States of America.

In a post, Mattsson said, “So honored and proud to have become a US Citizen today!!! I’m so grateful to this country for all the opportunities I’ve been given and for helping me make my dreams come true!”

Several of Mattsson’s “General Hospital” co-stars chimed in with messages of congratulations, including Cassandra James (Terry), Kathleen Gati (Liesl), James Patrick Stuart (Valentin), and on-screen husband Johnny Wactor (Brando). “The Young and the Restless” star Courtney Hope (Sally) and even former soaper Kayla Ewell (ex-Caitlin, “The Bold and the Beautiful”) also congratulated Mattsson.

“Congratulations! I got mine in 2001. It’s a great feeling!!” said Gati. “[The] USA is lucky to have you!!!” wrote Stuart. Congratulations!! We’re proud to have you!!” commented Ewell. 

Born in Stockholm, Sweden along with sisters, Mia and Helena, Sofia Mattsson gave birth to her first child with actor/writer/producer husband Thomas Payton last year. “He joined us on 7/26/21 and stole my heart completely!!” she shared on Instagram following the news of their son’s birth.
