THE NUMBERS

It’s been six weeks since the launch of the 2021-2022 television season and we’re finally able to see how the daytime broadcast shows are performing in delayed viewers, which in the industry is referred to as “Most Current” ratings and encompasses changes from Live+Same Day to Live+3 Days and Live+7 Days.

Season-to-date “General Hospital” remains daytime’s biggest gainer in delayed viewers. The soap jumps from eighth place in Live+SD among Total Viewers to rank sixth in Most Current with a gain of +304,000 viewers (2.553 million vs 2.249 million). “The Young and the Restless” is the second-biggest gainer, up +266,000 viewers (3.835 million vs 3.569 million). “The Bold and the Beautiful” and “Days of our Lives” are third and fourth in viewership gains, up +180,000 viewers and +159,000 viewers, respectively.

“The Talk” gained the least amount of delayed viewers so far this season (+11,000) with “The View” gaining the fifth-largest viewership bump (+68,000) among all other daytime broadcast shows.

In Households, only the daytime soaps saw an increase in Most Current from Live+SD with “GH” and “Y&R” each up +0.2, and “B&B” and “DAYS” each up +0.1. The rest of the daytime broadcast shows held their original Live+SD rating.

Unfortunately, unrounded figures were unavailable to Soap Opera Network at press time. Therefore, the Most Current numbers for daytime among Women 18-49 and Women 25-54 rating are based on the available rounded figures which are virtually in line with how the shows are performing in the available rounded figures for Live+SD.

CBS currently leads the pack in Total Viewers, averaging 3.072 million viewers season-to-date followed by ABC with 2.183 million and NBC with 1.781 million (excluding figures for “TODAY 3rd Hour” and “TODAY with Hoda & Jenna”). FOX News Channel takes up fourth place with 1.683 million viewers when comparing the hours of 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (regular daytime broadcast hours). 

In Women 25-54 Viewers, CBS is averaging 350,000 viewers followed by ABC with 303,000 and NBC with 257,000 (excluding figures for “TODAY 3rd Hour” and “TODAY with Hoda & Jenna”). FOX News Channel ranks fourth with 120,000 viewers.

In Women 18-49 Viewers, CBS again leads the pack with 243,000 viewers to second place ABC and its 203,000 viewers. NBC is averaging 187,000 viewers (excluding figures for “TODAY 3rd Hour” and “TODAY with Hoda & Jenna”) to rank third followed by FOX News Channel which again ranks fourth with 80,000 viewers. 

In Women 18-34 Viewers, CBS ranks first with 61,000 viewers on average while the race is tight for second with both ABC and NBC tied with 41,000 viewers followed by Nickelodeon in fourth place with 36,000 viewers. FOX News Channel is averaging just 14,000 viewers in the demo.

Note: Season-to-Date ratings for “TODAY 3rd Hour” and “TODAY with Hoda & Jenna” were unavailable and are excluded from the rankings.

What follows is a breakdown of how the daytime broadcast shows are performing in Women 25-54 rating (rounded), Women 18-49 rating (rounded), Households and Total Viewers so far this season (09/20/2021-10/29/2021)*.
