Using a quote by Cora Coralina, a pseudonym for Brazilian writer and poet Anna Lins dos Guimarães Peixoto Bretas, “Days of our Lives” star Lauren Koslow (Kate Roberts) recently revealed one heck of a real-life soap opera plot twist! The actress announced on Instagram that earlier this year she was reunited with her firstborn son, Josh, who she was separated from just three days after his birth.
In an October 31 post celebrating Josh’s birthday, Koslow said, “Today, gratefully, joyfully, with never-ending love and a healing heart I can wish my firstborn, my son Josh, Happy Birthday.” She noted, “We were separated three days after his birth and lost to each other for nearly a lifetime. Earlier this year across the unfolding of time & space we were reunited. I give thanks to the mystery of the miracle & an @ancestry DNA match. So here we are. We begin again.”
Koslow closed out her post with a quote by American writer and the author Alex Haley, which states, “In all of us there is a hunger, narrow and deep, to know our heritage, to know who we are and where we have come from. Without this enriching knowledge, there is a hollow yearning. No matter what our attainments in life, there is a vacuum, an emptiness and a most disquieting loneliness!”
Several of Koslow’s current and former colleagues at “DAYS” responded to Koslow’s posting with Alison Sweeney (Sami Brady) saying, “This is such an amazing story!!” Former executive producer Greg Meng commented, “Just beautiful…” Melissa Reeves (Jennifer Horton) added, “This is so incredible,” using several “heart” and “prayer hands” emojis to emphasize her statement. Kristian Alfonso (ex-Hope Brady) wished both Josh and Lauren a Happy Birthday. Valerie Wildman (ex-Fay Walker) said “Sending love!!!!” and former Daniel McVicar (ex-Clarke Garrison, “The Bold and the Beautiful”) said, “Wow Lauren what a joy.”
In addition to Josh, Koslow has three other children from her marriage to makeup artist Nicky Schillace. The two were wed in 1987.
There was no mention by Koslow at press time as to the circumstances leading to her separation from Josh.
