THE NUMBERS

The week of October 11-15, 2021 was a good one for CBS’ “The Young and the Restless.” Not only did the soap celebrate the nuptials of Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) to Ashland Locke (Richard Burgi), but the series also attracted its largest overall audience since the week of April 20-24, 2020, the last week of originals aired pre-pandemic shutdown.

With 3.672 million viewers tuned in, not only did a chunk of the show’s characters spend time in Tuscany to celebrate #WedLocke week, but they were also joined by an additional +580,000 viewers compared to the same week last year. The soap was down a mere -125,000 viewers compared to the same week in 2019 (3.672 million in 2021 vs 3.797 million in 2019).

General Hospital” (2.211 million) attracted the second-largest overall increase compared to the same week last year, up +287,000 viewers year to year while also gaining +26,000 viewers week to week. In the demos, “GH” tied “The Bold and the Beautiful” in Women 25-54, each with a 0.54 rating to tie for fifth place out of 13 shows. “GH” tied with the first half-hour of “Let’s Make a Deal” in Women 18-49, each with a 0.31 rating to place seventh place out of 13 shows. “GH” was flat week to week while the first half-hour of “Deal” was off a bit.

Increasing in both Women 25-54 and Women 18-49 rating compared to last week, “Days of our Lives” (1.607 million) was up year to year in Total Viewers (+70,000) and flat in Households. The series beat “The Talk” and “GMA3: What You Need to Know” in the demos to rank 11th in both Women 25-54 and Women 18-49. Last week the series was tied with “The Talk” in Women 25-54 rating and tied with “GMA3” in Women 18-49 rating.

The Bold and the Beautiful” (2.906 million) fell in both Women 25-54 and Women 18-49 rating year to year and week to week and was flat year to year and week to week in Households (2.0 rating). In Total Viewers, “B&B” shed -68,000 viewers week to week but added +132,000 viewers compared to the same week last year.

The second half-hour of “The Price is Right” (4.655 million) posted its largest overall audience since the week of February 15-19, 2021, and “The Talk” (1.459 million) attracted its largest audience since the week of March 8-12, 2021. Despite gains in Total Viewers, “The Talk” was down week to week and year to year in the Women 25-54 and Women 18-49 demographics. The series was flat in Households both week to week and year to year with a 1.0 rating.
