THE BREAKDOWN

After two weeks of the 2020 Tokyo Olympic games, fans of “Days of our Lives” will finally get their soap opera back when the series begins airing all-new episodes starting Monday, August 9. In fact, to honor the happy occasion the soap has released two brand new promos that highlight all the drama you’ve come to expect from the venerable daytime drama series when it returns.

With intermixing scenes that will air this week and into the following, one promo shows fans they can expect a possible reunion between Ben Weston and Ciara Brady Weston (Robert Scott Wilson and Victoria Konefal) who are seemingly back together in more ways than one despite the fact that when we last saw the couple Ben had kidnapped his former wife just as she was heading to the church in order to marry Theo Carver (Cameron Johnson) — Ben appeared as Ciara’s limo driver who purposely did not drive her to her destination.

Meanwhile, at the church, the wedding guests were shocked to learn that it was Claire Brady (Isabel Durant), and not Ciara, who was under the veil when it was lifted by Theo just as Shawn Brady (Brandon Beemer) handed his “sister” off to marry her would-be husband. Sucks for Theo because it looks like Ciara is about to remember everything when Ben implores the love of his life to think about their history together when he brings her to a place that has meaning for the both of them on Monday, August 9. Unfortunately, things don’t look so good for Ben when on Tuesday, August 10, Ciara has to attend to his injuries, but by week’s end, we just might finally see that reunion fans have been clamoring for especially when Ben and Ciara appear to consummate their relationship as Ben places several kisses on Ciara’s back while Ciara places her own set of kisses on Ben’s front. Steamy!

Outside of all the Cin drama, it looks like Allie Horton (Lindsay Arnold) will have to decide if she wants to be with Chanel Price (Raven Bowens) or Tripp Johnson (Lucas Adams), literally, as the character finds herself in bed with the both of them on either side of her, a likely response from a nightmare scenario, or maybe they all just happened to fall asleep together after all? Turns out the sneak peek promo above was “accidentally” released and intended to reflect scenes airing the week of August 16 instead. Hmm…

LOOK FOR: On Thursday, August 12, Chanel and Tripp grow concerned about Allie.

As previously reported, Sami DiMera will be leaving town on Wednesday, August 11 when she gets thrown out of the mansion by EJ (Dan Feuerriegel) and soon afterward gets kidnapped. The one-two punch plot twist provides portrayer Alison Sweeney with her exit storyline from the canvas but it looks like she’ll be back at some point in the near future. In talking about her leaving the soap, Sweeney told Soap Opera Digest, “I have other scenes that I’m doing right now so you’ll have to see what happens.”

Marla Gibbs joins “DAYS” as Olivia Price beginning Tuesday, August 17 and it looks like her “227”-inspired reunion with her former sitcom co-star Jackée Harry (Paulina Price) will be worth it when she tells her on-screen daughter, “If you think you’re going to tell that child the truth you’ve got another thing coming!” Olivia appeared to be referring to Lani (Sal Stowers). Makes you wonder what that’s all about, right? Until then, expect Lani to explain to Abe (James Reynolds) why it’s so hard for her to forgive Paulina on Friday, August 13,
