‘House Calls with Dr. Phil’ Meets Dollar Bill Spencer from ‘The Bold and the Beautiful’

To help promote the launch of "House Calls with Dr. Phil," watch as the syndicated talk show host seemingly prepares to take on the Spencer family of "The Bold and the Beautiful."

In a fun little gag of a promo, “The Bold and the Beautiful” star Don Diamont shared a video on Instagram in which talk show host Phil McGraw (“Dr. Phil”) is seemingly watching a dysfunctional scene from the daytime drama series wherein Diamont’s Bill Spencer is arguing with one of his sons, Wyatt Spencer (Darin Brooks), about the need for knocking. In the scene, Bill is annoyed with Wyatt as he’s interrupting his time for thinking, to which Wyatt tells his father, “Good for you. I’m not here to see you. I’m looking for Liam, is he here?” Bill responds by pretending to search his desk and office space for Liam while calling out his other son’s name. The clearly edited video serves as a way to promote the premiere of McGraw’s new primetime series, “House Calls with Dr. Phil,” which premieres Wednesday, August 18 at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT on CBS.

In the one-hour program, McGraw hits the road to help real families with real problems come to a mutual understanding, starting with a family in Utah where one teenaged daughter hasn’t spoken to her father in five years and her sister in three years, while living in the same house. Their desperate mother reaches out to Dr. Phil to bring their family back together.

“I am so excited because unlike anything I’ve ever done before, my team and I are able to go into the family’s own home, for days at a time, and deal with real world challenges in real world settings,” says McGraw of his new series which he also serves as an executive producer. “It is such a great opportunity for me to bring about meaningful and lasting change.”

According to a breakdown of the show, McGraw will be using his unique, proven techniques as he works with each family he meets as they attempt to work through various emotional barriers with the hope of authentically changing their lives for the better.
