THE NUMBERS

The second half-hour of “The Price is Right” remained TV’s most-watched daytime broadcast series with nearly five million viewers tuning in during the week of December 21-25, 2020, the highest numbers the show has achieved in six months (since the week of June 22-26, 2020). In fact, for the week both half hours of “Price is Right” attracted more viewers overall than their season averages. The show, along with sister game show “Let’s Make a Deal,” led daytime broadcast in Men 18+ with each half-hour landing the top slots in the rarely reported demographic.

“The Talk” and “The View” are not included in this week’s ratings report as both shows aired reruns. As such, their unreported ratings numbers do not factor into their season-to-date averages.

For the season (Most Current Ratings: 9/23-12/25/2020), “General Hospital” has lost the least amount of viewers among the four daytime soaps compared to the same period during the 2019-2020 television season. “GH” has lost a mere 3% of its audience while “The Young and the Restless” lost the most, shedding 17% of its audience season-over-season. “Price is Right” lost the least amount of viewers among all daytime broadcast, shedding as little as 3% or as high as 4% of its audience in any single demo. Meanwhile, “The Talk” has shed 27% of its total audience season-over-season with a 28% loss in Women 18-49 Viewers season-over-season. “The View” and “GMA3: What You Need to Know”** are the only daytime broadcast programs to gain audience season-over-season, up 14% and 22% in Total Viewers, respectively, season-to-date.

What follows is a breakdown of how the daytime soaps, game shows and talk shows performed during the week of December 21-25, 2020 in Total Viewers, Women 18-49 Viewers, Women 25-54 Viewers and Men 18+ Viewers.
