Keeping it short and sweet, a humble Patricia Bethune took home her first Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Performer in a Drama Series for her portrayal as Nurse Mary Pat on ABC’s General Hospital” during this year’s broadcast of “The 46th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards.”
In her acceptance speech, an elated Bethune thanked The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, “GH” executive producer Frank Valentini, and the show’s cast and crew, along with highlights of talent who supported her throughout her daytime experience, including Jon Lindstrom who had been nominated for Lead Actor. “You gave me the best last day with the exception of cutting off my head,” said Bethune of Lindstrom, which got plenty of laughs. The actress also thanked her family and friends for supporting her throughout her long career while noting, “I will go way out of my way for a good view and this, it was incredible. Thank you so much.”
The award was presented by actor Lou Diamond Phillips, who himself was nominated in the same category but for digital dramas. He played Martin in the digital drama “Conversations in L.A.”
Bethune beat out the likes of Philip Anthony-Rodriguez (Miguel Garcia, “Days of our Lives”), Wayne Brady (Dr. Reese Buckingham, “The Bold and the Beautiful”), Kate Mansi (Abigail Deveraux, “Days of our Lives”) and Thaao Penghlis (Andre DiMera Days of our Lives”)
