Veteran soap actress Patrika Darbo (“The Bold and the Beautiful,” “Days of our Lives”) is currently starring in the film “Second Date,” which is competing in the 2019 Easterseals Disability Film Challenge.

Available for viewing on Facebook through the Easterseals official page, “Second Date” tells the story of a young boy named Aiden (Micah Fowler, “Speechless”) who has a bad experience on a date and is later told by his mother, Rhea (Darbo), that he has been gifted with the power of time travel. In order to correct a date gone wrong, Aiden uses his wheelchair to go back in time. Unfortunately, he does this one too many times which impacts the spacetime continuum.

Written by Conor Hanney and directed by John Lawson, “Second Date” is competing for the Awareness Award now through Monday, April 22, which is when it’ll be judged against several dozen others based on the number of film views it receives and its social influence. The film also stars Jamie Brewer (“American Horror Story”), Sello Lyons (“Kate Loves LA”) and four-year-old Gia Lopez in her second Challenge Film.

Now in its sixth year, the Easterseals Disability Film Challenge gives film makers a platform to collaborate and tell unique stories to change the way the world defines and views disability. The weekend-long competition took place April 5-7 and gives entrants 55 hours to write and produce a 3-5 minute short film. Films are not required to include disability in their storyline, but teams must include at least one person with a disability in either the cast or the crew.

You can watch the film in its entirety below.
