Now that Brytni Sarpy is moonlighting over in Genoa City as Elena Dawson on “The Young and the Restless,” ABC’s “General Hospital” has decided to move ahead with storylines involving her former character. The soap has officially recast the role of Valerie Spencer with daytime newcomer Paulina Bugembe.
A rep for the soap confirmed the news to Soap Opera Network and tells us to expect the actress in Port Charles sometime in mid-April.
“My first day was wonderful,” said Begumbe in an interview with Soap Opera Digest, on newsstands now. The actress, who began taping last week, adds, “Everyone was so warm and welcoming that any nerves I had were gone immediately.”

The actress, who has also dabbled in directing and producing, has appeared in episodes of “Scandal,” “The Good Place” and “For the People.” She directed the short films “The Homecoming” and “Fight or Flight.”
