On Friday, March 15, Brytni Sarpy aired for the final time as Valerie Spencer on ABC’s “General Hospital.” Beginning tomorrow, Tuesday, March 19, she heads to Genoa City in the newly created role of Elena Dawson on CBS’ “The Young and the Restless.”
Sharing clips on social media as she closed one chapter in her life in preparation for another, Sarpy, who first hit Port Charles in March 2015, said on Instagram, “It has been an incredible journey bringing Valerie Spencer to life. I am so honored to have been given the opportunity to live in her shoes and paint her story on the Port Chuck Canvas.”
She added, “Thank you ‘GH’ and [executive producer] Frank Valentini for the incredible opportunity. Parting is such sweet sorrow. I shall say, ‘goodnight till it be morrow.’ Sending so much love to my ‘GH’ family. Thanks for inspiring me. Always.”
Although the storyline involving Valerie and her romantic feelings for Kristina Davis (Lexi Ainsworth) appears unresolved, there are currently no reported plans at “GH” to recast the role.
In addition to joining “Y&R,” Sarpy can currently be seen in the latest Lay’s commercial promoting the iconic chips brand.
Both Sarpy’s final scenes on “GH” and her Lay’s commercial can be viewed below.
