Ignacio Serricchio signs on to “The Mule” from director Clint Eastwood. The film features Laurence Fishburne, Bradley Cooper and Michael Peña.
With roles on “General Hospital” and “The Young and the Restless” under his belt, soap alum Ignacio Serricchio will soon be using his daytime chops for his turn in the upcoming Clint Eastwood film, “The Mule.” The actor recently announced he has signed on to star alongside Laurence Fishburne, Bradley Cooper and Michael Peña in the legendary director’s newest film.
“Excited to finally share these incredible news with you all!!! What an honor to be a part of this super talented cast. I feel like a student going back to school,” wrote the actor on Instagram on Monday, along with a picture of a notice from Warner Bros. Pictures indicating the film had officially begun production that day along with a list of its cast, including Eastwood himself, accompanying it.
“The Mule” is based on a 2014 report featured in the New York Times Magazine in which a man in his 80s deals with loneliness and financial loss, and faces foreclosure on his business. When offered a job as a driver that seemingly will fix his financial woes, he soon learns he’s agreed to work as a drug courier for the Mexican cartel, and becomes a target of DEA agent Colin Bates (Cooper).
The film is a co-production between Warner Bros. and Imperative Entertainment.
Serricchio can currently be seen in the Netflix original “Lost in Space” as Don West.
