ABC Developing Family Comedy Written by ‘Y&R’ Star’s Husband

ABC is developing a new single-camera comedy from the people behind short-lived “The Real O’Neals”: Co-creators Casey Johnson and and writer , husband of “'” (Kevin Fisher), whose life together is somewhat the basis for the potential series.

The semi-autobiographical untitled comedy centers on a man who, along with his husband and son, moves back to Texas to live with his Mexican-American family, where he struggles to keep step with his family’s deep-rooted traditions. Sudduth, who was born and raised by a Latino family in Texas, shares a son with Rikaart. Sudduth serves as writer on the project withJohnson and Windsor supervising. Johnson and Windsor will also serve as executive producers with Sudduth pulling co-EP duties. ABC Studios is the studio behind the project.

In addition to “The Real O’Neals,” Johnson and Windsor were co-executive producers on ABC’s “” and “Don’t Trust the B— in Apartment 23.”

Sudduth has served as a writer on such shows as,” “,” “,” “,” and “.”He and Rikaart were married in May 2015 surrounded by family and friends. They welcomed their son, Montgomery Argo Rikaart-Sudduth, via surrogate in June 2016.
