‘The Talk’ Tops ‘The View’ in Total Viewers for First Time Ever! ‘B&B’ and ‘Y&R’ Surge

While CBS is currently producing a latenight version of its popular daytime talk show this week, as it waits out the March launch of “The Late Late Show with James Corden,” that daytime version of “The Talk” has just surpassed ABC’s competing “The View” in total viewers for the first time ever.

During the week of January 5, “The Talk” had a 2% lead on “The View” in total viewers (2.95 million vs. 2.88 million). Meanwhile, both shows tied in both Women 25-54 (1.0 rating) and Women 18-49 (0.7 rating).

Hosted by , , , and , “The Talk” attracted its biggest audience since the week of February 10, 2014.

In related ratings news, CBS’ “” and “” started 2015 with some of their largest audiences in nearly a year. “B&B” attracted an average of 4.05 million viewers, its largest since the week of February 3, 2014. “Y&R” averaged 5.11 million viewers, its biggest audience since the week of February 17, 2014.

“B&B” is being led by the public affair between Rick Forrester () and Maya Avant (), while “Y&R” is enjoying a surge in storytelling courtesy of Phyllis Summers () and Adam Newman (), among several hot plots.
