There may be a lot of “Days of our Lives” fans out there that believe Theresa Donovan is a brat that deserves every little bad thing that comes her way, but the latest plot development is a harsh punishment that her portrayer, Jen Lilley, says even those with the hardest of hearts may think crosses the line. Because even though Theresa creates her own troubles, having her embryo stolen by Kristen (Eileen Davidson) is quite a big blow!
“Karma is a bitch, and Theresa’s about to find that out in a big way, and it’s devastating,” Lilley teases of the drama to come in the weeks ahead. “As much as people love to hate her, I feel if you have a little bit of a heart… even if you don’t like somebody, if you see them go through the course, the ropes, whatever the phrase is, a little bit of you has to go, ‘This is kind of hard. This sucks.’”
And, as the actress reveals, her alter ego is headed down a painful road from which she may never recover. “There’s no stronger love than the bond of a mother and child, and I think that that happens at conception, as soon as the mom finds out that she’s pregnant, and so there’s a real unraveling of Theresa that’s really devastating,” the actresses reveals of what will happen once Theresa realizes what has happened. “It’s just hard to watch: She’s about to be exposed, and you’re about to see her vulnerable side. There’s been the build up of where it just hits really hard, because all up until now, everybody is like, ‘Go to jail, go to jail, you put John [Drake Hogestyn] in a coma, you did this to Brady (Eric Martsolf), you’re so horrible,’ and now it’s just this massive train wreck.”
In fact, Lilley says that today — when Theresa tells Brady that she’s pregnant — is the jumping point from which some of the most exciting material of her career catapults. “I have been looking forward to Monday, November 10 for six months,” she enthuses. “From here on out, it is just, the match has been lit and there’s a rope full of gasoline.”
As for whether or not viewers will be privy to the whereabouts of Theresa’s baby remains to be seen. At this point, even Lilley herself is in the dark about whether or not her alter ego will ever meet her child or get the yet-to-be-born baby back. “[We’re] only five and half months ahead, and that’s not really a gestation period,” she points out. “That’s not 40 weeks. So I don’t fully know what’s happening with that. I hope there’s a baby, and I hope that Theresa gets to meet the baby, because that would be interesting. But I don’t even know. I have no idea, honestly. All I can say [from what I know] is that I’m very spoiled with this storyline.”
