In a casting twist that is oddly reminiscent of when “One Life to Live” swapped roles on Scott Clifton and Brett Claywell a few years ago, the show announces that the role of Viki (Erika Slezak) and Clint’s (Jerry verDorn) youngest son, Joey Buchanan, has been recast for the second time in less than a week.
Only two days after we told you that daytime newcomer Josh Kelly had been cast as Joey, “One Life to Live” Executive Producer Frank Valentini tells SOAPnet.com that the show has changed its mind regarding its latest casting decision and hired another actor, former “As the World Turns” star Tom Degnan (ex-Riley/Adam), to take on the role. As for Kelly, he will remain part of the cast but play a different yet unnamed character.
According to Valentini, “After auditioning a talented group of guys for the role of Joey, we are excited to announce that not one but two of them will be joining the cast of ‘One Life to Live’ in contract roles. We have now cast Tom Degnan in the role of Viki’s son, Joey Buchanan, and we have decided that Josh Kelly is a great fit for the other contract role that we have written. We look forward to both actors joining the show.”
Degnan will first air as Joey on Wednesday, November 24. However, no first airdate has been announced for Kelly. Neither actor has started taping as of yet.
“One Life to Live” airs Weekdays on ABC. Anytime on ABC.com.
