Preparing for Brown’s Return to ‘GH’

By Errol Lewis

(SoapOperaNetwork.com) — After weeks of speculation, Soap Opera Network can now confirm that actress Sarah Joy Brown is set to make her highly anticipated return to ABC’s “General Hospital” on Thursday, January 31, 2008. The date just so happens to be the first day of the February Sweeps ratings period.

As previously reported, Brown is re-joining the “General Hospital” canvas in the role of Claudia Zacchara, sister to Johnny Zacchara (Brandon Barash), which leaves her popular role of Carly Benson-Roberts-Quartermaine-Corinthos-Jacks in the capable hands of her current portrayer, Laura Wright.

Soap Opera Network has also learned that the character will square off with mob boss Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) immediately upon arrival to Port Charles. Are sparks ready to fly? or are guns about to be drawn? You’ll have to tune in as February is a new beginning for drama on “General Hospital.”

Brown vacated the role of Carly in April 2001 after spending five years with the soap. Tamara Braun took over the role the next day until her exit from the soap in early 2005. Jennifer Bransford was brought on as a replacement before being replaced herself by Laura Wright in November 2005.
