In other daytime ratings…”The Talk” on CBS posted its best viewership & W25-54 ratings in five weeks. For the week of April 17, “The Talk” had 2.65 million viewers, up 10% from the previous week. In the Women 25-54 demographic, “The Talk” had a 0.8 rating, up 14% from the previous week (source: CBS press release).

  • Layla

Gabi of our Lives isn’t helping Days’s ratings.

    • Carmel Smith

Gabi of our lives? No, it’s Chabby of our lives.

    • Lena

None of these young people on soaps are strong enough to lead or remotely charismatic enough

      • Paul

Have to agree with that Billy Flynn is a good young actor so wish James Scott had come back and he had shared scenes with James now that would something to look forward Chad and EJ scenes but looks like he has moved on from soaps.

        • lulu

Nah leave Ej alone..he doesn’t need to be on this soap who would destroy again and again the character if given the chance..NO THANKS. Moreover Ej should come only for Sami and their children and nobody else !! But above all he should not be wasted on this soap by destructive writing.

          • Paul

I meant he comes back to reunite with Sami i never meant come back alone you do know Ali is coming back for a while i don’t want them having a recast play EJ. My fear EJ may return but may be a recast i hope James does return with her so he can walk away from Salem with Sami in the end and us Ejami’s will get the ending we should of got in 2014.

    • monzo

Eli is also a disappointment. I hope Ron cleans the house.

    • elsa

Abby’s of our Lives either (although she is less worse than the last disgusting version..Ugh)

  • Suzy

John was back to Days on Wednesday and he made love to Marlena. It looks like fans didn’t care too much. The ratings were very bad for Days all week. Fans of vets need to stop saying they can save Days because it’s a big lie.

    • Kevin Little

Merely reading that makes me not want to watch DAYS.

    • Paul

They making the fans tune out i not saying they all to blame but they on much more than they were a few years back and at least the ratings were pretty decent back then talking about 2013 early 2014. I am looking forward to Ali coming back but not even her can say Days now in my opinion they just can’t seem to get any big bumps anymore every week is stale either a loss or a tiny increase.

    • TV&MovieBuff

Well the new characters and new actors aren’t working either. Look at the ratings for Days for months — nothing is working. It’s not the actors or characters that are featured. It’s the writing, the direction, the production…..and esp. way too much turnover and way too many change of direction on the show. The direction of the show seems to be changed about every other year…sometimes more than that. It’s just stupid. And the production schedule is the biggest thing. You can’t let what is not working play out that long on soaps….you have got to be able to change direction quickly.

      • Suzy

With John coming home to Marlena, that was the ONLY part of the story. It was to be romantic and sweet. They had the time to be together without other stupidity from the writers. Their fans were so happy and doing countdowns to it for more than a week. Lots of the soap accounts were talking about John coming back. So he came back and had sweet time with Marlena and no more fans came back to watch it. It’s wrong to blame the writing this time because the story wasn’t stupid and it was supposed to be a big attraction for fans. The ratings for John coming home were awful and I don’t know why there is excuses except to say that they aren’t popular with most fans like their fans think that they are. John and Marlena have the same fans they have had for years. They don’t have new fans coming in every day to join their ship. That’s a fact and that’s not an insult to them. Fans only need to stop acting like they are so big and popular with everyone because they are not. They are an old couple that has history. That’s all. There’s more opinions from people that watch than what is on message boards or Twitter or other places and the ratings show that.

        • vivien

I like the way you used “that’s a fact” there (John’s byline, lol). I do have a sentimental attachment to John&Marlena, the same way I do for Doug&Julie, Steve&Kayla, but you’re right, just watching them ‘cuddle’ isn’t gonna bring in viewers. They need a good storyline. And DAYS needs to build new supercouples in the mold of those three powerhouses. Nobody even comes close, I’m so bored with the pairings on DAYS right now! I want to see Ericole and Broe, but the current regime probably wouldn’t do them justice anyway.

          • Suzy

When Days had good ratings before 50th there was good couples in 20s 30s and 40s. John&Marlena, Doug&Julie and Steve&Kayla didn’t have much good storyline. Steve wasn’t in Salem at all but ratings were ok. Viewers can have sentimental attachment for old couples but they can’t lead Days anymore if show wants to succeed. When I watch Days it’s like a visit to my granny’s house for 1 hour, except my granny wasn’t kidnapped every month or going places with guns shooting at people. Days is the old soap left. All old characters that have had every story anyone can imagine. What more can writers give them for storylines? Other soaps have hot couples that are young and have good sexy situations that fans die for. Days has old couples kissing like Andre and Kate and that is yuck. People don’t blush or get excited for old people trying to be sexy like Days thinks. Hope is so boring now and old too because Rafe acts like he has no brain. He looks at Hope like she’s an old lady housekeeper. Days lost too much good couples at 50th and the actors were good. Ken ruined everything for fans and it’s never the same since.

          • truth

Old pairings can be attractive, fun and sexy..but the actors (and writing) have to really ‘bring it’ and it has to be counterbalanced with younger fun pairings..a little bit of everything..the problem on Days : old couples are cookie cutter and always ‘right’ no matter what..it is so generic, unrealistic and boring..complex they are not..multilayered they are not..

          • vivien

“Old” couples can be romantic too, but ITA, Andre&Kate are “yuck”, lol. Right now DAYS seems to have forgotten how to build up a romance. Just showing them kissing or in bed is not enough. We need to be BEGGING for them to kiss! It has to be built so the audience WANTS it WAY before it actually happens! That’s what they used to do, and the payoff was well worth it! I have NEVER wanted to see Rafe&Hope kiss. Nor Eric&Jen, lol. But DAYS keeps giving us these lackluster couples (remember Kate & Clyde? Deimos & anybody? Ugh). They should show what the AUDIENCE wants to see!

          • truth

Yet you are praising a character like Abby..it cancel all your argument..just saying.

          • truth

And Rafe/Hope are a slow built pairing..

          • vivien

maybe, but hardly anybody likes them, lol

          • Salem Spectator

I like Chabby, but Abby needs to be more assertive, which she’s beginning to show. I also like Elabi, but Elani would be good too.

          • elsa

being bitchy, self-righteous, self-entitled and hypocritical is not assertive..lmfao

          • vivien

I LOVED Chabby when Kate Mansi and Billy Flynn were playing them. That chemistry just clicked! Kate and Casey didn’t have the same sparks. Neither do Billy and this new girl, IMO. She seems too “needy”. You’re right, she needs to make him chase her. Pine for her like he pined for Gabi. I like Eli, but haven’t really warmed to him with Gabi. I like them better than any other young couple right now, but that’s not saying much!

          • elsa

Well we can agree to disagree.. MANY are really happy (and relieved) Kate Massi’s version is gone !! (The witch is dead..yay !!) She was miscast, she was the smug of the smug and creepy looking..always remind me of a mix of Tory Spelling at her worst and Jody Arias..the real spycho killer..yuk..creepy)..she literally made the Abby’s character unbearable and i never saw the so called “chemistry’ between her and Flynn she was always praised her about..niet..nada..the girl was ONLY good when she played obsessed/spycho/creepy/crazy mainly on her last year on Days..otherwise she was a big failure and a waste of space/air. The new actress is at least believable as Jennifer’s daughter (for the worse or for the best..) but the Abby’s character stay unlikable..and she is supposed to be the new main heroine of this soap..they can cancell it RIGHT NOW !

          • vivien

fair enough, chemistry is subjective and not all of us like the same characters/couples/actors. But I have to be excited about ONE couple/storyline or I see no reason to watch.

          • elsa

Fair enough but to me (and many others) the last version of Abby and her pairing with the poor Chad (only here to prop her..) were not a good exemple..lol. But in theory i get what you meant.

          • elsa

            and it was psycho..sorry.

      • Suzy

Fans blame the production schedule but Days doesn’t change things that are not working even when they know it. History shows fans Days writers do what they want even when they can change it in 6 months. They keep stories going longer than that.

  • Carmel Smith

I think YR was OK “this” week. I just don’t see the ratings rising much. Philly is back but it’s all about Villy. 👎 A shame because they have the best chemistry. I can’t think of even one story that is just awesome. Days has turned into the Chabby show. So tired of them. I love balance. I do love Trip though. Great addition.

    • TruthSquad

I agree with you about Y&R lacking awe. I am enjoying it but still waiting on the magic. Maybe May. I am enjoying DOOL. Gabby and Julie going at it was lots of fun. Not a huge fan of the new Abby or the teen scene. In fairness, the previous Abby was a tough act to follow.

      • elsa

please..the previous Abby was horrible and totally mlscast..she looked liked a latino, certainly not Jack and Jennifer (wasp looking) child..and her fake blond bleach hair..shudder..ugly..At least this new one looks like she could be Jack and Jennifer daughter..although the Abby character has always been unlikable (well the previous Abby made her very unlikable/smug/bitchy ect..and now it is the character’s strong characteristics..) and they still tried to buy her as a ‘noble’ heroine..the character is just the opposite..

        • elsa

          to sell her..sorry

        • TruthSquad

          To each their own.

          • elsa

Not a question of “to each their own’: this girl was miscast and it is a fact. After that, you have your right to have lousy taste i don’t question that..lmao.

          • TruthSquad

            Bless your heart.

          • elsa

            you too..mouah.

          • Salem Spectator

I liked all the actresses who played Abby. It seems the only people who had a problem with the previous actress are the people who couldn’t handle how hot EJabby were, hotter than their shower water!

          • elsa

Wow you never ceased to be delusional..it is not cute. Many can’t stand the last version of Abby for her own “merits”..could not stand her and believed she was miscast..(never talked of Ej by the way delusional Salem Spectator..as usual..) since her start in 2011 !! The girl was smug and play the character as self-righteous and self-entitled in all her scenes and she did not look like Jack and Jennifer. End of story. ps: the shower scene was repulsive but it was just a tear in an ocean of her awful journey as Abby.

          • Salem Spectator

This picture is to help you: https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/a585f47178e8f697f27fc9a7283c81f7e3b7a689fd633f8c6c0a91ac1479e0e6.jpg It’s like when people have to face their fear to be able to conquer it.

          • elsa

Ugh you are creepy like the photo you just posted but whatever..if that makes you fantasise..more power to you..shrug. And just for the record I have no fear because i don’t like a fictional character, go take your meds while enjoying your borderline pedo sex fantasies..
And i don’t see why you posting photo of trashy storylines should help me..ugh..no, the Abby character sucked before her chasing Ej or Austin (same type of story..who did not make Abby a rootable heroine but the opposite..you mentioning this type of story is just making my point by the way). But the real problem : Abby’s character sucked BEFORE and AFTER and DURING and even now with a new actress this character sucks again..so give up..viewers did..a long time ago. Although i admit the new actress stays an improvment..too bad the character at her roots SUCKS. Deal with it, deal with your fear : Abby ‘s character is a failure and conquer it. Go on. lol.
While you’re at it, conquer your fear that Days of our lives is the last in ratings, suffer bad writing, bad production and is less succesfull than the last 3 other soaps..your comments are always delusional..it is exhausting and pathetic for you.

          • Paul

Like when you feared Ejami lol.

The Ejami haters don’t want James coming back this time i wonder why may be because Ali will there as well.

          • lulu

This Salem poster is a troll..and loves to bait because of his bitterness about the bad state of his/her favorite show..(it seems Days is her/his life..creepy..), i would almost feel story for this ‘thing’ if it was not so offensive..

          • Salem Spectator

Bitter, I’m bitter? You are bitter. You’re bitter because Kate Mansi and her fans are laughing at you. And you’re bitter because I told you so. I’m OK with DOOL and the ratings. Are you OK with Kate Mansi winning?

          • cab

Bad state of all our favourite shows. Not one of them is riding high compared to last year.

          • Salem Spectator

Don’t burst into flames, but it looks like Kate Mansi got the last laugh: https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/3475cfcfe2e71ea160867617cdcd89be20101f51bbbad6d4c9a143a1efb491c2.jpg

          • lulu

You bait again and again the TROLL supreme Salem Spectator..it is pitiful..and i don’t get what you get from it..but know something : what you enjoy MANY MANY MANY loathe it, and if this show want to keep viewers..it is a really BAD move to keep propping lame actress/character and trashy stories.. with this trash bs this soap attracted someone like you..but people..many more people who have better taste they go away without any problem..such a pity. ps: daytime emmys is not quality garantee… well..i am not surprised you are not aware of that..pathetic.

          • Salem Spectator

Standing my ground and standing up from bullies like you is not the definition of trolling. I’m not baiting anyone. You and your “friends” need to stop embarrassing yourselves by making ugly remarks about actresses, which are clearly based on the hatred their characters did/do. I don’t think all EJami fans are to blame, but there are several sick freaks in their fan club. You baited me just now as you have in the past.

          • lulu

It is not bullying it is telling the truth : you are a troll who is baiting post after post, who deflect and tell lies and innacuracies in order to prop your favorite soap Dool, who seems to be your life. First it is creepy and secondly many of us are fed up with you tainting this board with your trolling.

          • TruthSquad

I loved the previous Abby. I dont hate the new Abby, she is just very different and will probably grow on me. Kate Mansi was an instant rival to Sammy, Her chemistry with EJ was hot indeed. I am looking forward to Alison Sweeney returning but am wondering with Nicole gone and new Abby, who will she spar with? Also, I loved Sammy 2.0. She was feirce after finding out about EJ and Abby. I hope her time spent is done well.

          • jesse

Sami and Kate always had a love/hate relationship. They’re a lot of fun.

          • TruthSquad

I think Ron as writer will be an interesting change. The sky is the limit.

          • Salem Spectator

AZ (Nicole) is still taping. She confirmed at the Emmy Awards that she is taping until June, so it seems her exit is after Sami’s return. Maybe AZ was convinced to allow Ron Carlivati to give her a better fitting sendoff.

          • TruthSquad

That is great news. They create beautiful drama together.

          • lulu

Whatever..stop insulting Alison Sweeney..it is offensive..and to be clear : first daytime emmys are a joke since years..and secondly this storyline was not hot, it was just trashy and a really bad move since it alienated an entire BIG fanbase and James Scott (one actor involved) himself !! It was a really stupid move business wise even if two of you enjoyed it..wake up.

          • TruthSquad

I’m sorry. Did I say anything offensive about AS? I complimented her and Kate Mansi.

          • lulu

This silly comparaison is insulting, yep insulting for Alison Sweeney who deserves better than that. That’s all.

          • TruthSquad

I honestly have no idea what you are talking about Lulu.

          • TruthSquad

OUTSTANDING SUPPORTING ACTRESS IN A DRAMA SERIES
Kate Mansi, “Days of Our Lives” (NBC) — WINNER

          • elsa

And ? She still sucks..like Daytime emmys matter…lmfao..Natalia Livingston, Brittany Allen, Drew Tyler Bell..yeah Meryl Streep is shaking in her boots..you are funny, really. She can maybe keep playing psycho (the only believable acting range she has..my bad..) on lifetime tv movies..creepy/obsessed i can buy, the rest..never ever.

          • TruthSquad
        • cab

Amen. Marci is Abby, and she is only doing what the writers and directors are telling her to do. A+.

  • Michael Taylor

Do you think the WGA will make a deal?

  • jesse

Happy Y&R was up even though it was only 5k.Mal/Sally are still an improvement over JFP/Pratt.Relationships need to keep on developing, not some cheesy stunts.Looking forward to sweeps.Days is awful bc of Corday. The hacks he hired,Higley how many times, new young actors can’t act, vets given really bad material etc.

    • TruthSquad

IMO, Y&R is definitely better since JFP/Pratt left but I am still waiting for some of the old Y&R magic. Looking forward to May sweeps.

      • jesse

Agree drama should happen with Chloe back.Phyllis/Billy together again.Cane affair.Nu characters added.

        • TruthSquad

Looking forward to the return of Dina Abbot Mergeron also.

          • Bart Kasper

Marla is back as Dina on May 4th!

          • TruthSquad

I didn’t realize it was that soon. Yay!

  • monzo

I’m glad that GH is up, but I’m afraid that after Jane Elliot is out ratings might drop, if they continue to make Finn a front-burner. It’s the fourth character Michael Easton is playing on the show, the first three didn’t work and that one either. They should finally realize that it’s not the character who is not working it’s the actor. Sadly, Michael Easton doesn’t fit in on GH, so they just should let him go.

    • TV&MovieBuff

The worst thing they ever did to GH was give those 3 actors new parts after the Prospect Park fiasco. I didn’t like the way the OLTL characters were given prominence on the show but it was nothing new as GH always had balance problems. I would have eventually gotten use to it and stuck with the show. But it all went to the dogs when the 3 left and came back as new characters and so much time was spent establishing them along with the new characters of Ava and Nina. I just threw in the towel and even them bringing back Laura wasn’t enough to make want to tune in again. I’ve tried a few times here and there but just nothing makes me want to stick with it.

      • jonboy

        Thats when I quit watching.

  • TruthSquad

Y&R shows promise and improvement. IMO, It is very watchable and likeable but not really fully delivering on the thrills. May sweeps will be a defining month.I wish they would keep it indoors.

  • Richie

Why the omission of Y&R form the headline on opening site page: “GH, BB, DAYS up for week”?? Because the rise was only 5000? FYI: Days rise was 4000, that show was included in the headline. Headline should have read: “All soaps up for week”. Just saying.

    • TV&MovieBuff

Because Y&R only rose in one category while the other 3 rose in multiple demos as well as total viewers. So the headline got it right. Y&R was only up in Total Viewers while they dropped in all their key demos.

    • FoxyRoxyy

It’s about the demos, not the viewers. Y&R was down in all the demos. The other shows were not down.

  • ctshar

Wow, dismal demo numbers all around. As an B&B and GH viewer, I’m NOT suprised. If you focus on boring repeat stories like Sonny Hospital and ridge/brook reunion #99 and think you’re going to get demo viewers, you’re crazy.
Just started Y&R and I like where they’re headed. Kudos to the showrunner and network. Seems like they’re listening to their fans, GH and B&B should too.

  • FoxyRoxyy

Another bad week for Y&R. The show continues to be a bore and is misstepping all over the place. It’s way past time to cut their losses and show Sussman the door. Nothing happens on the show.

  • Chris

Wow- these are abysmal key demo numbers for the soaps. To think that there was once a time when these shows were widely popular with college students/younger adults and kept being passed down to the next generation(s). Clearly, that’s not the case anymore today, with regard to millenials (those born in roughly 1980-2000) and younger Gen. Xers. There are probably tens of thousands from those generations that consider these shows out of touch and antiquated. I hate to use that latter term, but honestly I think there’s some truth to that.

Given the way the burned-out writers of these shows have failed to keep up with modern times and listen to fans (non-stop recycled predictable plots, way too slow pacing, etc.), not to mention increased cable/internet/iPhone competition during the day, plus more and more younger people out and about working, etc. it’s not surprising at all. Sad, but not surprising.

    • There are a lot of countries that air their soaps during the after school/work & early evening hours and also make them available online at the same time as broadcast. In those countries, people still watch but in the US a combination of a bad business model that depends on only one demographic, refusing to make the content available online and above all, as you say, out out-of-touch and in some cases reactionary writers. A lot of these shows were more progressive 30 years ago.

The time of day it airs does not stop young adults from picking up soaps. Not everyone is at work during the day. Not every job is 9am-5pm. So many people work 3pm-11pm, 7pm-3am, 12:30-9pm, etc. There’s a lot of flexible shift options.

I’m 24 and I always had 3pm free from classes when I was at school a couple of years ago.

No one passed down soaps to me. My mother had long stopped watching them when I started. I happened to be home one summer channel flipping and stumbled upon an interesting one. Flipping through one of my teen magazines I saw ads featuring the hot young cast members of the soap.

Soaps stopped trying to attract young adults and decided instead to focus on emmy bait ripped from the headline stories for cheap views. These young actors they have now are my age but they aren’t the ones me or my friends want to see. They’re basic looking and nothing interesting about them on or off screen. And the young characters are boring and spend way to much time around their families and have no goals or aspirations other than having families.

        • I did say that reactionary writers are a big part of the equation, but having soaps on in early evening does open them to a wider audience that may or may not include precisely you.

          • Lena

Them being on in the early evening won’t change anything. POP reairs soaps at night and so did soapnet

          • In other countries, they are not repeated at night. They are aired then first. If it makes you feel better, though, you are a fine human being and right about everything and very special. Gold star!

          • Lena

Other countries do not have the same TV trends as the US. Stop comparing other countries and think about what people actually like to see here. Airing during the day is the least of these shows problems. There’s enough people home during the day to keep these soaps afloat but those people aren’t watching because the shows are garbage

          • TV&MovieBuff

But to those millions who work all day they didn’t see the first airing during the day, and have the opportunity to watch it at night. The fact that they choose to watch something else speaks volumes. All 4 of the currently airing soaps at one time have aired in prime time on some cable channel. None of them were ever big ratings winners except for Y&R which did well on both Soap Net and POP at one time. But I think recently even Y&R has dropped in ratings on POP.

Moving the shows to a later time is not going to solve the problem. Giving viewers something they want to watch is the problem. The soaps in other countries do that. They work off a totally different model than the soaps in the US do.

          • The point of my initial post was that other countries work off a different model and have for years, including but not limited to airing them at different times. I never meant to imply that changing the time would fix it here and I don’t think it would.

    • cab

Yet when they try to be creative and up to the times, fans complain and tune out. Not long ago they could not use some of the language that primetime was already using, or do scenes that primetime was doing.

  • Salem Spectator

This week’s words are brought to us by the letters a and d, abysmal and dismal.

  • robert

those demos are terrible. all 4 soaps hit lows in 18-34

  • Happy Accidents

    DAYS “up for the week”!
They’ve gone from their second-lowest week ever …. to their THIRD-lowest week ever!

    • cab

And they did not lose the most viewers from the year before.

Praying for a writer’s strike as maybe some temp writers can save GH. I watched Friday’s episode for the ‘walk down memory lane’ with Tracy and of course Sonny had to have a role in the episode. It worked but I still got angry when he showed up on my screen. Seriously. I didn’t watch GH when Tracy gave birth to Dillon so I’m hoping someone can answer a question about one of the scenes they showed on Friday. Tracy went to a woman’s house and her water broke while sitting on her couch. That actress was awful. Maybe if I had seen her act a bit more I may change my mind but from that short scene she was dreadful.

    • Pete Ra

The woman was Ned’s wife Jenny. She’s also Bobbie and Luke’s cousin.

      • scott16475

        Thank you.

  • FoxyRoxyy

So Mal Young couldn’t win an Emmy for Y&R? GH won.

    • Salem Spectator

But Y&R did win for best writing. Maybe they should have kept that writer.

      • robert

they should have kept Pratt and paired Sally with him. that could have been a good balance, now the show is too boring. Sally doesn’t do drama very well, all she does is conversations

  • truth

Daytime emmys were a BIG FAT JOKE once again..except maybe for Gina Tognoni..

    • Salem Spectator

I’m guessing it is the opinion of you and your “friends” that the biggest fattest joke was Kate Mansi winning the Outstanding Supporting Actress Emmy. I suspect several EJami fans wore black and kept a box of tissues handy today for their sudden outbursts of uncontrollable crying with fits of rage. It’s so fitting that she won: https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/6abe9b955c55f5f379b4cbabb1b9f9dffdd00c0de1e5bb7dd7cbec90a3a442fa.jpg

      • Ang

I’m an EJami fan and I could care less that she won. I don’t like her, that is true but it’s based on what I know about her as a person not some lame character or storyline. I hated Nicole but I have a lot of respect for Ari Zucker. I can’t say the same for KM.

But carry on your trolling. Keep making uninformed comments about shows you know nothing about all in order to deflect attention from Days and their historically low ratings, its 5th writing change in 6 years etc, the disgruntled actors phoning it in and bitching to fans etc..It’s all sunshine and roses at Burbank.

        • Salem Spectator

You’re one of the biggest trolls ever! Most of my posts this week have been about Kate Mansi in response to posts about Kate Mansi just like this one. There is no deflection on my part, but I know you’re fuming over her win and my calling those out for their nasty comments!

    • robert

      Gina deserved that emmy

  • cab

Funny how on this site all posters do is complain about Days. When on the other sites viewers are at least 50-50. All soaps are doing poorly. Change needs to take place NOW. Hoping that Ron C. can do that and make people(new viewers) want to watch. A while back soaps were not allowed to use certain words, or have scenes with couples directly on top of each other, like that primetime was doing. They have changed a lot. Where are all those hot and steamy sex scenes. Where is all the passion. If you look at the Telenovelas they are way more daring then their US counter parts. We might need to get young writers in place to bring in the new younger viewers and have to alienate some of the older viewers. I can think of a couple of ways to do that. Ron please have the knowledge to do this and bring Days out of its’ current disaster.

    • JayTN

I’ve said for a long time that the daytime soaps need to go back to being cutting edge. Long ago, during their golden age, soaps were among the most progressive series on the air. Whether it be LGBT representation, abortion or race, the daytime soaps led the way. Now, daytime soaps are looked at as a joke, with a roll of the eyes. Now, soaps are more known for outrageous (and not in a good way) stories that include multitudes of characters coming back from the dead (and not in a “The Walking Dead” sort of way). Unfortunately, the industry has no one to blame but themselves.

      • TV&MovieBuff

I totally agree with you. I have never figured out why someone has not realized that the continuous out there stories just don’t work anymore. You take the sting out of death by constantly bringing back everyone from the dead — then the stories no longer work. You constantly retcon stories and rewrite them every 6 months or 2 years won’t make them work either. Fans just aren’t buying what they are selling anymore. It’s time to not only give the shows back some credibility with progressive stories but it’s time for them to get a little edgy again. They don’t have to go gore and nudity of Game of Thrones but we can get at least some primetime edginess to the language, dialogue, and sex scenes.

TOUPS, I WANT LAST WEEK’S RATINGS NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Happy Accidents

Sweeps has begun. They take longer, naturally.
