  • Keanna

Glad to see Y&R fans are finally giving the show a chance.

Days, Dena’s going back to her old habits, lazy writing. Killing off David, and don’t get me started on the Chloe and Nicole stuff.

As for GH, guess I am watching a different GH, the Olivia return has been awful, the custody battle storyline has been terrible, the saving the hospital storyline has been all over the place and I could careless who Nell is

  • MaximumUniverse

So Y&R is down nearly half-a-million viewers from 2016 and this is cause for celebration? Talk about desperation. Ridiculous.

    • Keanna

Maybe because people have been disenchanted with the previous regime and at least a share of them are coming back

      • FoxyRoxyy

How is it the fault of the previous regime that 600,000 people tuned out between Mon and Thur last week? Obviously the viewers got bored and turned off the show.

        • Keanna

Sometimes it’s about quantity more than quality, would you rather Pratt still there giving you action and not much else?

          • FoxyRoxyy

            Any day of the week!

          • Keanna

As a person who saw Pratt’s work at AMC, you have the bar set low, very low. Plus the show, he’s at now just got picked up so you will not get your wish

          • Bantilau Regnies

Pratt again!!! Why are you obsessed with Pratt?

          • Keanna

Don’t flatter yourself, just merely stating the fact that he basically ran AMC into the ground and I find it fascinating that some of y’all want him back

          • Bantilau Regnies

Where did we say we want Pratt back please?

          • Bantilau Regnies

NO ONE talks about Pratt except you.

          • charlie bracken

            Exactly!!

          • Bantilau Regnies

Why are Sally stans obsessed with Pratt? He’s gone. Sally’s ratings are bad because HER show is bad. Period.

          • Keanna

Maybe because she and Kay were coming into a sinking ship caused by Pratt and Phelps, and also viewers like you want crap instead of being patient

          • Bantilau Regnies

Being patient until when? Until the cancellation of the show? Ratings are bad and viewers get bored. That’s a fact.
The show is the worst under Sally : ratings and writing. The only mess here is from her.

          • Keanna

Said it multiple times, it was going to take AT LEAST six months for her to fix the mess under Pratt and Phelps, and yes that’s a fact. Anything from her would be an improvement from them.

          • FoxyRoxyy

Viewers aren’t going to wait around for 6 months. They are already bailing out in droves. Did you notice that last week Y&R had their lowest ever women ratings? It’s only going to get worse as better weather settles in. Sally’s writing is so dull and boring.

          • Keanna

Been saying this to you for the longest, if you thought that Sally and Kay was just going to wave a magic wand and poof EVERYTHING would be fixed. You guys don’t know how soaps work.

          • Bantilau Regnies

The mess under Pratt? The only mess here is from Sally. Pretending the ten past years never happened is not a way to fix things and she doesn’t need six months for that. The storylines are boring, the scenes are repetitive, there is no rootable couple… and I don’t need six months to see it.

          • Keanna

It’s been what just little more than two months since she took over, sorry the improvements haven’t been working for you, just shows you want instant gratification after a regime change, doesn’t work that way.

          • Bantilau Regnies

For me and for the rest of the audience according to the ratings. I don’t need time, her arrogant interview in November was enough for me and for people she made turn out.

          • Keanna

Just where in that interview did she come across as arrogant? I mean she was being honest like most head writers are taking over the show or in her case going back where she got her start. Seems like some of you made up your minds and not be patient, but hey whatever.

          • Bantilau Regnies

            Where? Really? LOL!!
And stop with “be patient”. Viewers have no reason to be patient with the boring show that YR has become under Sally.

          • Bantilau Regnies

The thing is YR doesn’t have quantity or quality.

  • Ang

I’m enjoying GH right now. I think it deserves the bump.

Y&R is a slower paced show but I like the writing. It’s more character driven.

    I quit B&B a few months ago and I don’t miss it.

    Days…Oy vey.

  • FoxyRoxyy

Nothing to celebrate at Y&R. They are still way down year to year and after a bump on Monday because of the holiday last week, by Thursday and Friday they were way down again. Viewers are bored with the slow storylines.

    • Bantilau Regnies

One week of “great” ratings for seven weeks of low record is how Sally is saving the show lol

  • Vendi Smith

Y&R should have tied the low for the eighth straight week, right?

    Jan 23rd thru Jan 27th

    Women 18-49 Viewers

    Y&R 610,000 (+44,000/-112,000)

    Women 18-49 Rating

    Y&R 0.94/7 (+.06/-.19) <—— ties low (4th straight week) *
    ———————————————————————————————–

    Feb 20th thru Feb 24th

    Women 18-49 Viewers

    Y&R 583,000 (+41,000/-102,000)

    Women 18-49 Rating

    Y&R 0.9/7 (+.06/-.17)
    ————————————————————————————————

I don't understand how a demo total of 610,000 viewers/0.94 rating in late Jan gets them the dreaded "ties low 4th straight week" but a viewer total of 583,000/0.90 rating in late Feb doesn't get them the even more dreaded "ties low 8th straight week" so are they no longer rounding off the actual rating anymore. This makes no sense!

    • padange

It’s probably because last week they had a new low. lol

  • TruthSquad

Good for Y&R and GH. GH was great last week.

    • Ang

I usually watch all 5 episodes over the weekend. I’ve been watching every episode this week the day it aired. Every day has had a good cliffhanger.

      • TruthSquad

I watched GH in the 80’s and on and off since the 90’s.

  • Happy Accidents

Dena takes Days to the 4th-lowest week EVER in the KEY DEMO – in February! https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/acd2735fa60a880fd0f3fac45719b995f5731114aa579f002b155367b89bcc8b.png

    • TruthSquad

I am catching up on this weeks DOOL and I think it’s pretty good. Last few weeks were so so but this week seems good. Seemed to ignore sweeps but it looks like March will be better.

  • Happy Accidents

Dena ain’t done yet! She gets Days a new ALL-TIME LOW in the YOUNG WOMEN’s demo, her 2nd this year!

  • Paul

Fans of Days your show was renewed start watching it or new writers stuff may not save it this times ratings may go super low by July comes i think its a hope less case we still got 4 more months of Dena’s horrible work to air.

    • Tammy Bostick

i stopped after 33 years destruction of family characters esp hope and i gag with the nasty rafe hope mess ratings are bad but cordsy deserves it how the heck did nbc renew ?! it’s a joke!

  • Derrick

At least Y&R went up…………..I must admit that the show has been getting a bit boring lately.

    • TruthSquad

It got a little slow but it seems to be picking up the last couple of days. Today was good.

      • charlie bracken

IA Y&R Has been good, Loved the flashbacks of kay and Phillip

        • TruthSquad

I am thoroughly enjoying. I like watching the characters behave consistently and the relationships between them redeveloping. Good drama is daytime. I don’t miss the dobblegangers and stunts. Not one bit.

          • Falconcrest

I think it is better myself. I notice more interaction with characters and less of them being isolated in their own story. The scene this week with Billy and Chloe talking about Delia was good and it was nice to see Murphy today.

          • TruthSquad

It feels good to care about the characters again.

          • charlie bracken

Same Here, the way the stories are moving is nice. The Scott has me hooked and The Kay story is good with the ring.

          • TruthSquad

Hopefully they get those demo ratings back up. The total viewers and households are enviable but the key demos are lagging.

          • charlie bracken

Right but their demos have been like this even when Pratt was still around and his Numbers were just as bad. But I give them a “a’for effort

          • TruthSquad

IA. They have stabilized the show but the low key demo numbers were pre-existing.

          • charlie bracken

Exactly that’s their main problem which is the demos even though the show is back on a even keel they need to start focusing their attention on getting those demos up

          • padange

Pratt’s W18-49 at similar range were in Summer and Fall. And these are for February when they tend to be higher. I wonder what numbers we’ll see in Summer.
I want soaps to survive so I wish the demos were better.

          • charlie bracken

Right but Pratt’s 18-49’s were worse then these as were his 25-34 where he was bleeding viewers week after week. Even now Sally’s are a little higher then Pratt’s IMO anyway. The show has gotten back to where you can watch again.

          • padange

But, Charlie, last week they had a new (all time) low in W18-49 (so Pratt’s numbers couldn’t have been worse) :). As far as I am concerned, every headwriter has his/her strengths and flaws. I heavily disliked Pratt’s courtroom and prison stuff, but liked some of his pairings. I feel Sally’s pairings are dull and the show needs more compelling drama but I like her use of history and flashbacks.

          • charlie bracken

IA But given the damage Pratt did The fans have to be patient and Let Sally work, It’s only been two months. The Show IMO has Gotten back to it’s Roots which is good , But they are still some “Kinks” that need to be worked out But I’m liking what is going on. Pratt was also hitting record lows in that category week after week too, even his other numbers were bad too.

          • Bantilau Regnies

The only damages are from Sally. Stop using Pratt to justify the lazy current writing.

          • TruthSquad

I think you put your finger on it. Sussman is not perfect but is far better at writing history and keeping true to the characters. Waiting on some good conflicts.

          • padange

Exactly. What they need is some good conflicts. Juicy drama was Bill Bell’s strength. I don’t know why SS is still so shy with it. She also needs some help and advice on chemistry issue. Maybe their directors could tell her what pairings/potential pairings have chemistry and could work. I can’t watch any more of Villy who have zero chemistry lol (sorry, Villy fans).
            Then everything could be ok.
Btw, I like that SS is trying to integrate some socially relevant stuff into the stories.

          • TruthSquad

I am hopeful the conflict is a slow build. We shall see. I disagree about Victoria and Billy. They don’t inspire excitement but at this point just want Billy and Phyllis as far away from eachother as possible. Lol

          • padange

LOL :). I think Billy and Phyllis have GREAT chemistry (the best on the show). I’d watch them 7/7 24/24 :):):). Different strokes for different folks! 🙂

          • TruthSquad

Absolutely true. We can agree to disagree on Billy and Phyllis. It’s not the lack of chemistry for me but the lack of boundries. Both characters have such self destructive tendencies on their own and together just crash and burn.

          • padange

I found myself enjoying the story not because Billy and Phyllis are hot as a couple (which they are). I liked the mutual understanding, support and friendship they shared. It wasn’t destructive at first. But even when it came to the destruction of the family it was such a great soapy drama! Of course, it’s horrible from a moral point of view but it’s something I enjoy watching on a soap. However, I respect different opinions and appreciate the opportunity to discuss oposing POVs in a respectful way :).

          • TruthSquad

Same here. Like you said, different strokes.

          • jesse

Billy and Phyllis had great chemistry enjoyed watching them together.Travis is the only one I thought had any chemistry with Victoria.Trying to put Villy or Jack and Phyllis together again is a mistake. They could bring back Ronan or Joe maybe add new characters.

          • charlie bracken

IA sally isn’t perfect but at least she is using the History of the show to write the stories that fans want too see. Given the fact it’s only been two months The show is coming back slowly.

          • Bantilau Regnies

She is using history??????? The woman said Billy had only one brother IN HER FIRST EPISODE. Philip who?
            And don’t talk for “fans”.

          • Bantilau Regnies

WORST LOW EVER last week!!! You can be obsessed with Pratt but you can’t change numbers. NEW RECORD LOW!!!!!

          • TruthSquad

Right now I really think that Y&R is patching the holes in the ship before setting sail. Let’s hope so. 🙂

      • Derrick

Yes……..I agree it is NOW picking up with the RE-visit of Katherine Chancellor and finally Lauren getting a bit of storyline with Scotty being kidnapped!

        • TruthSquad

I love seeing Lauren front and center. Even before the Scotty storyline, watching her handle the Fenmore’s takeover was great. She injected a great dose of humor into her character so to see her in a state of hysterics over Scotty was more enthralling having experienced a lighter side first.

    • ctshar

GH’s writing is terrible, so I was going to try Y&R but the ads look like boring stories. I do think the new regime will figure out to move stories more quickly, I’m optimistic about the future and VERY intrigued by the phylis/billy pairing. VERY.

  • jesse

With the ratings Days has been getting I wonder what Nbc paid. The soap is awful with the Orwell stuff,D.Hall playing 2 characters.Marlena/Hattie was a joke.

    • vikyy

Yea! Also, who cares about the whole Nicole/Chloe Baby story line now that we know Nicole is being written off. They are killing off Demios too. Jennifer and Eric are odd together. According to Days history Jennifer should be old enough to be his mother on the show. Hope and Rafe are a bore! Rafe needs a child, Hope is to old to have kids. That Anna lady was annoying and dumb. How many times must we watch Steve and Kayla marry! Looks like they didn’t know what to do with the Hortons so they added a bi racial grandson and killed off the father off screen.

      • cab

That Anna lady brought humor to the show. I wish she was staying. I care about the Nicole Chloe baby story, even if she is leaving because there are 6 months left for that story to continue, and I for one can not wait to see how it ends. Steve and Kayla belong together, it would not be a soap if couples stayed together for long. Bringing the Bi-racial storyline will now bring back the Hortons as a central force. Family.

    • cab

So what did any other soap do during February sweeps that was even interesting. For me, all these storylines you mentioned kept me interested. I would rather watch mystery and suspense than talk, try Y&R if you want talk.

  • scott16475

I watched GH today for the first time in months and although Sonny was on the episode was really good. Perhaps it’s my hatred for Sonny and my dislike of the actor playing Sonny but in those scenes with Laura, Chloe, and Chad, I thought Maurice did a horrible job. The scenes were really suspenseful and the acting was phenomenal but Maurice really took the wind out of the sail in each of those scenes. Seriously. The scenes would have been MUCH better without Maurice.

When Anna was talking with Robin about the children she lost I was convinced that Griffin was going to be Anna’s son and especially when Olivia said to Griffin that she felt like she knew him. I thought, “yep, Olivia feels like she knows him because she raised him as a baby”, and perhaps that’s where they will go with it eventually but for now she felt that way because Griffin reminded her of Duke.

The most unbelievable part of the episode was that Julian wasn’t able to get the upper-hand on Olivia at no point while she was moving him to the trunk of the car? As for Jason and Sam. Still the most boring “super couple” on TV.

    • Falconcrest

MB is the most overrated actor on daytime; at times he is even laughable. I don’t get all the accolades on the boards for him.

      • Carmel Smith

He used to be awesome when he first got on GH. I don’t think so anymore.

    • ctshar

Let’s be fair to MB. Yes, he was terrible, but how did that ‘reveal’ and it’s ridiculous writing get to AIR on TV? I’ve skipped this whole S/L and JUST watched the reveal. Plus his ‘that makes no sense’ look, that’s the audience. That’s exactly what EVERY viewer thought, wow the writing is just silly and makes ZERO sense.

Jean ruined ATWT and I hear her turn on Y&R was a disaster, so ABC and Frank know they hired a trash writer. Either way, until jean’s gone, I’ll watch a scene here and there and not waste my time. Chloe and LW were great, best performance of trash writing I have seen on TV this year. Truly.

      • James malnar

Jean passanate and Shelly Altman actually have brought me back to GH after years of only checking in , and as long-time fan , Luke and Laura days , stone and Robyn years, the show had turned into a joke of itself, The writer, before might have been good on OLTL but GH was not itself, and there was no real dialogue of humour, just flat characters repeating the storylines constantly. Every story on GH right not be “the best”, but GH is finally GH, real dialogue, humour, love, mystery, a little mob , and proper use of veterans, give tptb some props, Ron c was not a good fit for GH.

  • charlie bracken

Nice too see Y&R up for the week, They even stayed steady in their demos for once. I’m really enjoying what Sally is doing. The Kay stuff has been Great and the Scott’s Story has me hooked.

    • Amie

      Yeahhh Is amazing storyline

    • Secret Squirrel

Sally is even doing a decent job writing Colin. The flashbacks are great but the story and reveal would mean more to me if I were watching back when Phillip was alive.

      • charlie bracken

iA sally is going well, The Kay story has been Great the flashbacks were wonderfull.I’ve seen those on you tube.

        • Ang

I only started watching Y&R last year. I’m vaguely familiar with the history because I was watching Days for so long and saw the SOD/SOW headlines and articles. I’m going to have to google the Kay/Philip/Jill storyline because they have me so curious.

      • TruthSquad

I agree about Colin. I am actually enjoying his scenes for the first time. I enjoyed TR as Scorpio on GH but never took to Colin until now.

        • Secret Squirrel

All Y&R writing regimes have dropped the ball on TR. Colin should’ve been working with Jill and Cane at Chancellor taking on Newman and Jabot.

          • TruthSquad

They also squandered Genie Francis as Genevieve. I love the actress. I feel like she has been under utilized by GH too.

          • padange

I loved her on Y&R. Too bad JFP doesn’t/didn’t LOL.

          • TruthSquad

She was great. I think she abruptly left when JFP took over as EP.

          • padange

Yes, she left in November 2012 (on-screen). I think she had great chemistry with Stephen Nichols (whose character was written off several months later) and also with Eric Braeden. I loved their scenes in “Japan” :).
And yes, for some reason her GH stories go nowhere too.
Maybe she can return to Days as Diana :)?

          • TruthSquad

Tucker was great too. I guess Nchols may not have gotten along with Phelps either. LOL. I think all three, Francis, Rogers and Nichols are underutilized or misutilized in the industry. Hopefully at Y&R, Sussman will bring back some recent favorites also.

          • Maria Bell, Hogan Sheffer and Scott Hammer did a good job untill the loss of Raunch. The show was even good up until Daisy took root.

          • lulu

            She loathes Days…ha.

          • padange

I don’t think so. She is pretty direct though. She said some not so nice things about GH too. But she is on the show.

          • lulu

Actually she said on interview that she did not like her Days stint at all..She critiziced the production, the storytelling ect…If you don’t agree call Genie..ha.

          • lulu

And she never criticized GH and AMC and even Y&R (the other soaps she worked on) like that, not at this degree..NEVER. On Days she enjoyed just one thing : two of her costars; the guy who play John who was her love interest and another actress who played comic relief at this time : Calliope.

          • They misuses Cady Mclain and Maura West, as well.

          • TruthSquad

Cady and Maura were a shame also. Cady and Genie especially had such great potential. I thought Maura was doomed as Diane from the beginning. That murder mystery was especially awful. I think that’s predates Phelps.

Days = yikes! At this rate it will dip well below 2 million. It will for sure get a bump when Ron’s stuff shows up but I worry it will be too little, too late and Ron won’t get to do more than write the last year.

    • blion

Dont worry! We were all saying and thinking the same thing last year and Days was renewed. Unless, NBC is waiting until next year to see how Megans show goes in terms of ratings and takes it from there (as far as days is concerned). Tamara Hall already told us how she feels about it..hahaha

    • TruthSquad

DOOL was good last week. I will be tuning in next week. Hopefully they keep it up. I think Anne is hysterical. Not a fan of new Abby. Last I watched Nicole walked off with her baby. Eric is about to come out of his shell. Sonny about to become a gay kingpin. They missed sweeps but it looks like March will be good.

      • Days is in a tough place losing so many actors over the past few years. Nicole, Sammy and Stefano have defined Days for many years.
Days needs a strong writer capable of building a compelling new show able to blend core families with the new additions.
ATWT was very much in this position during late 90s, and new additions could be a coup for the show.
Lynn Marie Latham would be a great HW for such a task.

        • TruthSquad

IMO Latham was good on prime time with Knotts Landing but got really bad there on Y&R. The loss of Nicole for DOOL may be devistitaing. They need a writer who can make viewers take interest in all characters. A tall order .

    • Sally needs a partner. I like how she has given some characters depth (Jill, for example) but a Hogan Shefer would mix things up. I know many fans hate him but his work can be very good when surrounded by someone like Sally.

  • FoxyRoxyy

The Sussman stans are in for a rude awakening once Spring gets here. She circled all around the all time 18-49 low for a few weeks before finally hitting the new all time low last week, during February sweeps, which is never a good thing. She will no doubt hit even new lows in the coming weeks when viewing levels traditionally drop off. Her boring stories won’t help matters. Get ready for even more new lows.

  • JayTN

Another bad week for “Days”. You have to go back to July 2016 to find a week with a lower viewership average (2.09 million viewers for the week of July 11). Not only that, but “Days” also lost viewership each day during the week. It seems every time that “Days” gets some good news, such as its recent renewal, viewership goes down.

    • yoseline

I believe the above ratings took place when it was announced that Days was renewed for another season. I guess people felt that they now have another year to watch whenever they feel like it and turned it off. Sometimes watching paint dry is more entertaining than Ryan’s and Dena’s work.

  • cab

Nicole leaving Days will leave a big gap to fill. Fans now a day do not readily accept a replacement actor in their spot. So many of the recent recasts on Days has brought mixed fan reactions. Now comes word that a major player, not from soap opera history, is coming to Days. Speculation is Jennifer Aniston, but I doubt that. Whoever they have acquired, hope that they have a good storyline and not a silly one to keep viewers tuned in.

    • JayTN

Jennifer Aniston could conceivably appear on “Days”. Her father, John, has played Victor Kiriakis for years. However, I don’t see Aniston appearing in anything but a short-term role or even a one-time cameo appearance.

    • lulu

Like Jennifer Aniston would lower herself at playing on a outdated/ in verge of cancellation daytime soap..lmao…get real please..even if her dad made his career in that..Jennifer who still see herself as a movie star (lol but she is still popular in Hollyweird medias, she hopes now for a netflix tv show i guess..)..All right, maaybe a two second cameo for her dad exit and yet i am not even sure..she would even accept that..haha.

  • Carmel Smith

YR is still down from last year. Almost a half a million. The show is not good. I don’t really see Sally lasting.

    • FoxyRoxyy

Hopefully she will be canned soon. She’s killing the show with boring stories.

  • Dianne

Question for YR fans. I am confused about Lauren/Scotty. I used to watch.
Yes, Scotty was kidnapped at birth, but he was found. Not many previous writing regimes acknowledged he existed. So why is he kidnapped again?
Not sure about this, but it is possible Scotty should be the same age as one of Tracey Bregman’s real life sons.
Also, why does Victor have to be in this storyline? You want a reason for declining ratings, viewers are sick of Victor and the Newmans.

  • Aside from B&B every soap is crashing. Y&R can probably be stabilized but I can’t see GH or Days, with it’s 80s sets, surviving much longer.
Days, if cancelled, would be an interesting addition to CBS All Access due to its die hard fan base and low production costs. Honestly, I see the Bell soaps as online within a few years regardless of ratings because it would cost CBS little too host these non network-owned shows.

    • TruthSquad

I think B&B continues weather the ratings battle best because the half hour format makes for easy viewing. It just zips along. Sometimes too fast but never stagnant. They also have great production values.
