Looks like the situation at the Hospital is terminal. Can’t someone please pull the plug already and stop the suffering? The show is just a mess.

I also notice that all the GH cheerleaders were strangely silent during the Olympics, when its ratings proved that people WILL watch something during the day, live and not DVRed, if it’s something that is actually worth watching. ~7 million viewers each day: that’s about THREE TIMES the number that watch GH. I won’t be watching Katie Couric, that’s for sure, but there has to be something better than the junk Cartooni is feeding us.

    • Casey

Well consider the ‘silence’ of GH fans broken. The Olympics is and always will be a statistical aberration; it is a cultural phenomenon that the world collectively participates in and anticipates for years before the actual event. Of course, the two weeks that the Olympics were on would draw an unusually high number of viewers to watch television during the day. However, if the Olympics were on five days a week, fifty-two weeks a year, even they would not be able to maintain seven million viewers per day. So it is specious to draw any conclusion from comparing the ratings of the Olympics with GH’s or any other soap opera’s ratings; it is comparing apples and oranges.

      • me

Judge Judy never has a problem drawing a large audience five days a week, fifty-two weeks a year. And her viewership is more like 4 times the size of GH. Same was true with Oprah. So your argument is…what’s the word?…”specious”.

  • Days

what happened on Days on Wednesday

    • julie

Stefano was rescued..for real, audience love Stefano no matter what it seems ! lol

  • bob

Days is amazing right now. GH is a mess and a total disaster. Frank Valentini’s huge surprise was a joke.

    • jasamrlove

ITA!!!! It was a huge joke. Didn’t even know who the character was. They are bring on to many vets and hiring too many new people. He needs to focus on the actors who are not being used. Ron and Frank have ruined GH. I doubt GH will make it past it’s 50 and we have Ron and Frank to thank for that

  • lm cee

Can’t wait for GH to be cancelled. Ron and Frank have ruined GH. Thought they would bring in OLTL characters and that would bring in more viewers but it’s not working. They ruined JASAM to pimp McBain. All that accomplished was it pissed of JOLIE fan. Now Steve Burton is leaving. He is a huge part of GH. It’s only a matter of time. Put it out of it’s misery. They don’t call Ron ReRon for nothing. He couldn’t come up with an orignial story to save his life. Using the same old crap from OLTL.

sorry i TOTALLY disagree GH is THE show to watch. DAYS is a boring mess and bold and beautiful is the steffy liam show while young and restless is also a writing disaster. The stories on GH are exciting moving at breakneck speed and a WHOLE lot better then when Guza was writing. With Cartini it has become a day to day action packed show! September seems to be like its going to be MORE exciting if the PROMO that just came out is any indication. Please Steve Burton is ok but he is far from a HUGH part of GH. Cartini has brought GH back to the action packed exciting days of th 80’s and luke and laura era with remote shoots and a virus storyline that ROCKS. GH WILL live beyond its 50th i am sure and all the doomsayers will move on to another show.

    • Didja Noit

The ratings prove that GH is not the show to watch for far too many viewers. Not to mention that Cartini are pulling in less than half the numbers Guza managed to have in the ratings. No matter how someone feels about GH is doing or how “great” the show is now, the numbers don’t lie. Viewers are leaving GH. They wouldn’t be doing that if there was something on the show they wanted to watch. JMO

GH is making it the same old mistake w/leads who are leading the show to cancellation…they didn’t cut the mustard before, got shows cancelled but yet … here they are; after years of pimping and propping JaSam which made it turns out an epic fail ratingwise in the four years…why they have to have a low energy characters e.g McBain, McCall still up front center behooves me… but they won’t do anything different why they continue to groom this bint as the face of GH behooves me.

sorry to say but hope/liam killed bb, i dont know why brad bell thought it was a good idea to kill off the most talked about triangle on his show katie/bill/steffy so steffy could prop hope, im sorry but katie/bills baby storyline was a complete flop been there done that with nick, i expect bb to be next to be cancelled and i agree about days hate or love stefano he has a huge fan base thats why the writers always bring him back

  • Longtimedaysgirl

I’d say it was more like EJAMI time that jumped Days numbers!! Long time coming!

    • charlotte

well i love Ejami but this week they did not share much screen time, last week i agree with you they shared lot’s of screen time and ratings were good too but imo this week jump was more due to the end of the Stefano dead/not dead/being rescued by Bo and Hope (of all people lol) !

  • toolittletoolate

ABC is reaping what they sowed. They shouldn’t expect audience loyalty after breaking up their 3-soap line up. Meanwhile, The Chew and Good Afternoon just limp along killing GH’s lead in. Viewers have followed through with their threats – they left and will never come back. They are dead last at 1 and 2pm; and LMAD has actually tied them at 3pm. Hope they have fun trying to promote their fall prime time line up – to nobody watching during the day. Nice job, Disney and Anne Sweeney!

  • charlotte

That being said all this ratings nielsen system is so innacurate nowadays that these so called ‘ratings’ don’t mean much much., except for the networks and i agree it is really important since at the end of the day they are the ones calling the shots but they use this system above all because they found nothing to replace it to really measure their audience. And it is kind of funny that when a show does bad in ratings suddenly you have many people coming trashing everything about the show in question whereas the ratings are good suddenly for some (who thought the show was just horrible one week ago) it is awesome..come on people try to be a bit more smart, objective about these numbers and quality of these shows..come on..So while the Daysasters was great on Days the writing again is becoming boring with some lames stories you aleady saw one year ago zzzzzzzzzzz, B&B is quite a beautiful show with some fast pacing (unlike Days who appears pretty cheap and obsolete) but the stories are a real borefest yet they did good in ratings, same with Y&R who is since a while totally panned by press and fans and this week : great ratings ! lol And finally GH who has a refreshing writing, lot’s of vets and new characters, dynamics explored with lot’s of action and twists and turns, soap press and lot’s of viewers praising it (well at least in other sites, you know the ‘we are so happy, it is not the mob show anymore’ mantra blablabla) and still they are last in ratings..therefore take all of this with grain of sand people..

    • me

Right, don’t judge a show’s popularity by…how many people watch it. That’s like saying “don’t pay any attention to the score, the Cubs are the best!”.

What many people refuse to accept is that just because THEY think GH is the best thing since Citizen Kane, that doesn’t make it fact. And the fact is GH is dead last in the ratings, has been forever, and for very good reason.

      • charlotte

Popularity and quality is not the same ‘me’ it is such obvious..
And all i said is to not be so categoric about numbers (by nielsen system which is pretty obsolete) and quality being a package deal, that’s all.
