Robin Strasser Set to Tape Her Final Episode of 'One Life'

( — As we previously reported, Robin Strasser announced earlier this month that, due to impending back surgery, she would be forced to leave “One Life to Live,” where she has played fan favorite Dorian Lord off and on for nearly thirty years, before the show is scheduled to wrap production in mid-November. Now Strasser reveals the date she will tape her final scenes for the show, putting a sense of finality on one of Llanview’s most legendary characters.

Sounding upbeat, the outspoken soap vet again took to her Twitter page last Friday to announce “HONORABLE DISCHARGE JUST SIGNED AND FAXED. Mutually agreed to, I will tape my last show July 1. I look forward to my life AFTER ‘One Life.’”

And while it has been speculated that Dorian and her new hubby David (Tuc Watkins), who is returning to Llanview in late June, will leave the show together, Strasser tweets that she has “no control over how they’ll write Dorian off, I haven’t had significant story in years-hoping they’ll do Dorian good.”

A final airdate for Strasser has not been announced, however given the show’s current production schedule, it may be late summer or early fall before she is last seen. “One Life to Live,” meanwhile, will broadcast its final episode on Friday, January 20, 2012.

He's Back, Again! Tuc Watkins Comes Home to Llanview

( — In a move that should surprise no one, Tuc Watkins will be returning to “One Life to Live” for the umpteenth time this summer as his onscreen alter ego David Vickers Buchanans comes back to Llanview fresh from taping his biopic “Vicker Man,” to settle into married life with Mayor Dorian Lord (Robin Strasser).

That’s right, Watkins is making another world-wind trip to the “One Life” revolving door. The actor began filming his scenes several weeks ago, which was recently confirmed by both Strasser, and Jim Romanovich (President of Worldwide Media and Entertainment) who tweeted on May 20 that, while he was visiting the “One Life” studios, he saw “Tuc Watkins back on ‘OLTL’ set. He is one of the funniest guys I have ever seen.”

However, like nearly all of Watkins’ stints on the show, don’t expect him to hang around for very long. It has been speculated that David and Dorian will ride off into the sunset together later this year, due to the fact that Strasser announced earlier this month that she is leaving “One Life to Live” before the show wraps production in November, due to needing back surgery.

In the meantime, fans can expect David to try to lighten the mood (but maybe not raise the spirits) of his troubled kinfolk, most of whom are already, or will soon be, facing their own trials and tribulations.

Look for Watkins to first air on Wednesday, June 22, when Dorian gives her new hubby a lukewarm reception.

      Y&R Recap: Monday, May 30, 2011

( — "The Young and the Restless" Episode Recap – Monday, May 30, 2011.

Chance tried to talk to an upset Nina at the Memorial Day picnic at the Chancellor estate, but she hurried off to be alone. As he entered the house to find her, he ran into Chloe, who had Delia with him. He scooped Delia up in his arms, as he asked Chloe if Nina seemed upset when she saw her. Chloe let him know that it's hard to watch a child leave.

In New Mexico, Sharon told Sam that she didn't think she could go to the fair, even though she knew Piper would want her there. Sam eventually went without her. Meanwhile, Nick and Adam met up with the forensics expert to get the true determination of the accident. When he stepped out, Diane arrived, which annoyed Nick. Adam told Nick that he wanted her to be there and that was all there was to it. Nick commented that she knew nothing about Sharon, so he saw no reason for her to even be there to begin with. Despite Nick's attitude toward her, Diane was determined to be there.

Heather met up with Paul for lunch and told him that she was headed out of town on business for Michael. Paul assumed that she wanted to take the offer primarily because she wanted to get her mind off of Chance. He told Heather that she should go say good-bye. She told her father that she didn't want to make things worse for him, especially on his last day with his family. She suggested he go so he could be there for Nina, but Paul, reminded her that things weren't the greatest between them. After some more discussion, Heather and Paul both decided to go say good-bye to Chance.

Chloe, alone with Chance, asked him if he was re-enlisting because of Heather. Chance told Chloe that Heather wasn't the only person that was important in his life: she was too. Chloe admitted that she had a hard time believing that, considering how things ended between them. As they talked more on their past relationship, Chloe told Chance that she was glad that they nave now grown to be friends. Both shared a tender hug with one another.

The forensic expert handed over the police report and the accident photos. Nick and Adam were determined to correct the error, thanks in part to the DA's thoughts on Sharon's letters to them and the children. Meanwhile, Sam and Piper are setting up at a picnic table when Sharon arrived, telling them both that she changed her mind after all.

Chance, still worried about Nina, told Phillip that he wished that he could do something to ease their worries. While they were talking, Nina walked back in, where she admitted that she needed to give him the appropriate credit when it came to his decision to re-enlist. Even though she is still upset, Nina finally gave Chance her blessing and hugged him. Back outside, however, Chloe hits a nerve with Jill where Delia is concerned. When Chance and Nina returned back to the rest of the family, she was upset once again when Paul and Heather arrived. Nina told them both that they were not welcomed to be there but Chance stepped in and said he asked for them to come. He took Heather off somewhere private to talk, while Paul tried his best to comfort Nina.

Nick decided to go with the expert over to the accident scene, while Adam opted to stay put. Nick said that once he looked over the accident site he was going back to Genoa City. Diane decided to stay with Adam, even going as far to offer to get a room, but Adam told her that he needed some time to clear his head. When she continued to press the matter, Adam cut her short and told her that he had to agree with Nick: she didn't belong there. Feeling the sting, Diane decided to quickly board the plane to ride back home with Nick. As for Sharon, she and Sam escorted Piper on over to the 4H event in hopes of winning the blue ribbon for best lamb.

Paul and Katherine talked on how Tucker was doing; she told him that he was hanging in there. He soon shifted the conversation to Katherine's request to search for Tucker's son. Paul admitted that it was going to be a tough task, considering that Tucker has been all over the place. Katherine said she would give him his private files so he could get started.

Nick was dismayed when he saw Diane boarding the plane with him. He wanted to know where Adam was, but she happily shared that he was still back in San Pueblo. When she saw that he was still annoyed with her, she said they can either converse or ignore one another; it would be a long ride back. Meanwhile, at the festival, Sharon and Sam share their excitement with Piper winning the blue ribbon for Fanny. When Sam said it would be time to go, they started to take things back to the truck, while Sharon cleaned up. As she looked up, she was shocked to see Adam standing not that far from her talking to someone.

At the Chancellor Mansion, everyone waits for Chance to come back to say good-bye. When he showed up in his fatigues, they all surrounded him, giving him hugs. Chloe, pulled Chance to the side and shared one last kiss with him. Murphy raised the flags in honor of Memorial Day and Chance heading back off to fight for his country. My View of Llanivew: May 30 Edition

My View of Llanivew: May 30 Edition

( — Hate Nate? Welcome to the club.

My hate of Nate didn’t start on any particular date, but instead I feel it was simply an act of fate. At any rate, whenever I see him on TV, my feelings of ill will toward him cannot be contained by a flood gate. But wait, even though it’s late, there’s more. Much like a smelly fish who was caught with some stinky bait, this is one character who has overstayed his welcome and needs to reeled in and relocated to another town because he’s starting to smell. By the way, did I have a cousin named Kate? That’s right mate, I can rhyme too, just like Ron Carlivati and the other writers on “One Life to Live” when they are choosing names for all of Jessica’s alters.

Humor aside, however, I really do detest the character of Nate. His actions this past week where he, in a fit of rage, violently punched Matthew in the head (a wound that has proven quiet serious), only served to validate my opinion of him. No offense to the actor (Lenny Platt), but Nate looks like he is at least twice as old as his girlfriend Dani (who has also run of her course on the show), and it is more than just a little creepy. I’m talking about Christina Chambers and Brandon Buddy (ex-Marty and Cole) kind of creepy. Remember when Chambers played Marty how the relationship between mother and son seemed just a bit too chummy — almost like they were flirting with one another, instead of having a proper family relationship?

I hate nearly everything about Nate, by the way. He really serves no purpose (I mean, we already have two other Ford brothers), and surely wouldn’t even be missed if he were to suddenly disappear. Seriously…name one thing you would miss about the character if he were gone? Thought so. I’m sure very few would even miss his parading around town without a shirt on 90% of the time. I mean, it’s not like there’s a shortage of other guys in Llanview who would be more than willing to do that at a moment’s notice and for even the flimsiest of reasons.

Speaking of which, how contrived and idiotic can this show get? The entire sequence revolving around Nate and Deanna’s water gun fight was not only a complete waste of airtime, but an insult to even the most casual of “One Life to Live” viewers. Watching the two of them running around the apartment half-naked with dialogue like Nate telling Deanna that he was “going to get her wet” (or something to that extent), is not exactly Emmy material.  I knew viewers were going to be in for a big letdown when Nate came home in his full Llanview Lions baseball uniform (cap, knee socks, stirrups, and all), saying that he was hot, and that he needed to take a shower. And, of course, the air conditioner had to be out as well…sounds like the beginning of a really bad porn movie doesn’t it? Oh wait, “OLTL” already has that covered, with slut peddler Rick Powers and his latest masterpiece “Hold the Pepperoni.” Throw in the strippers that were on the show a couple of years ago, and we’ve got a Cinemax Friday night softcore porn flick in the making, minus the nudity of course. They could call it “Llanview After Dark” or something like that. I should probably stop at this point, before I give them anymore ideas.

Nate just really needs to go away though. I don’t care if they kill him off, have him go missing, or simply move away, but he just needs to go. It’s bad enough that we still have his brothers Robert and James running amuck. James is annoying, what with spending his every waking moment thinking and dreaming of Starr so that he can inch closer to getting into her pants, and Robert with his hotdog costume and reading to sick kids at the hospital (let the redemption begin). And don’t even get me started about his hamburger costume-claded friend named Patty (talk about clever — if only) trying to “get cooking” with him. Although, if they were to start having sex, I would hope that Ford remembers to wear condiments…..sorry, couldn’t resist.

Anyway, my point is that, with “One Life” only having about seven months left on the air (barring some last minute reprieve) you would think that the show would find a more productive use of their dwindling airtime by returning the show to its core values and characters, and giving the majority of fans something they actually want to watch, and not be embarrassed about. And yes, I realize it is a soap opera, but still, it should be (and has been) more dignified than this crap.

I think Robin Strasser (Dorian) sums up the frustration shared by many “OLTL” fans regarding Llanview’s teen overload perfectly when she tweeted this weekend that “How BIG an ALLOWANCE do pre-teen+teens In a Frons-ian household get? They not buying big tkts.-yet. ‘Get ‘em young and grow them.’ Nonsense!”

And yes, although Nate looks like he is old enough to be eligible for AARP in scenes with other teens who are actually teens, he is a prime example of what is wrong with the show at the moment. Don’t confuse my Nate bashing with an assault on his portrayer, Lenny Platt, however. I’m not blaming him for his horrible character — after all, it’s not his fault. He just has to work with the material he is given (much like the rest of the cast these days). Hopefully, with any luck however, things will get better soon so that “One Life to Live” can have a proper sendoff, fitting of its long history and rich legacy. Fingers crossed.

Moving on, congratulations to “Michael Tunstall” and “Shariten,” both of whom correctly identified last time’s mystery “OLTL” celebrity guest star, which was former CNBC analyst and reporter Ted David.

In case you missed the clues, here they are:

In 2009, this former TV newsman moderated a debate between Llanview’s mayoral candidates.

Now it’s time to play another round of “Llanview, Who Am I?,” a new feature where you have to use the clues to figure out the identity of some mystery celebrity from “OLTL’s” past. See if you can figure it out. Good luck!!!

Here’s your clue….this aspiring actor found a more mature audience when he appeared in Llanview in 2009 as a thug.

So who is this mystery group from the past? I’ll have the answers in the June 15th edition of My View of Llanview. Bonus points if you can tell me the name of the show which first made him a star, and what storyline his “One Life” character was involved in. And don’t forget to check out my Twitter page for all the latest “OLTL” news and information at SON.

Now, before I wrap up this column, I’m going to look into my crystal ball and give you a quick sneak peek at a few things coming up a few weeks down the road. These are for the week of June 20th. Someone has a surprise visitor. A father demands answers. One person is seriously injured. And a patient at Llanview Hospital gets some potentially good news.

Well that’s concludes yet another column. Hope everyone has a safe and happy Memorial Day holiday. Remember to buckle up! Take care and stay safe. And until next time remember, we only have “One Life to Live”…
