(SoapOperaNetwork.com) — As we first reported on Thursday, September 23, sources were confirming that Sebastian Roche was returning to ABC's "General Hospital" in the coming months, now ABC has confirmed that Roche is indeed returning to the drama series this fall in the role of Jerry Jacks, who was last seen in 2009. The network, however, did not confirm reports that Jerry Jacks would be the mystery character simply known as the Balkan who is after Brenda Barrett (Vanessa Marcil Giovinazzo).

"There's been a lot of speculation out there," says Head Writer Robert Guza, Jr. in an interview with Soap Opera Digest. "I've seen Jerry Jacks, Suzanne, Robert Scorpio, Sean Donely, which surprised me, and Faison. They're all very good contenders I will say that it's going to look very much like somebody who much of the audience thinks it is."

If in fact Jerry turns out to be The Balkan, this twist would follow in line with Roche's debut on the soap back in 2007 when he portrayed terrorist James Craig, only to be revealed to be a recast Jerry Jacks two months later. Jerry was last seen in 2009 after he faked his death in order to find Michael Corinthos III (then played by actor Drew Garrett), who Claudia (Sarah Brown) learned was the cause of her miscarriage.

Roche's first airdate is set for Monday, December 13.

In addition to his upcoming return to "GH," Roche is set to appear on The CW's "Supernatural" in the role of Balthazar, an angel, according to showrunner Sera Gamble. "He provides a unique perspective on what is going on in Castiel's (Misha Collins) world. Balthazar is doing things we've never seen an angel doing before." In addition to "Supernatural," look for Roche to return to FOX's "Fringe" in the role of Thomas Jerome Newton, a mysterious humanoid soldier from another universe.

"General Hospital" airs Weekdays on ABC. Anytime on ABC.com.
