Background: What started as "The Soap Opera Network" in 2001, a message board on the since-discontinued ezBoard discussion platform, Toups is co-founder of one of the most popular destinations covering daytime dramas and is the preeminent source for soap opera ratings and a Rolodex for the who's who of writers and directors that make what happens behind-the-scenes find its way onto the screen.
Soap Opera Network was launched on October 8, 2001, nearly one month to the day after the September 11, 2001 attacks in the United States. The staff of Soap Opera Network have compiled their personal stories and reflections 10 years after that horrific day.

On May 18, 2011, Robert Guza Jr. was fired as head writer of “General Hospital” and Garin Wolf was named the new head writer. With Guza leaving, it’s not surprising that his wife, breakdown writer Meg Bennett, was also let go from the show. Breakdown writer David Goldschmid was also fired. Replacing them on the breakdown team will be Shelly Altman, who’s been writing breakdowns for “One Life to Live” for the past 11 years, and current “GH” script writer Tracey Thomson (though she may only be helping out with breakdowns temporarily).
