This week, “General Hospital” promised a familiar face would be landing in Port Charles, and it turns out the show was referring to “The Replacer,” an iconic character played by voice actor Peter Stormare from the “Call of Duty” video game series.
The Replacer (Stormare) appears innocuously throughout the Friday, November 7 episode, with a busy Felicia (Kristina Wagner) walking around the fictional General Hospital floor handling official business when she’s handed a thick folder from a mystery man, who, while walking off, catches a pencil that nearly falls to the floor.
“Ooh, there you go,” says the mystery man, who does not identify himself. As he approaches the elevator, Felicia, who is suspicious, begins to question the material that was just handed to her. After a face-off, the man disappears. The scene ends there, but the soap opera later shared an extended version, which finds the man returning to the hospital desk where he handed Felicia the folder, leading him to identify himself as Felicia puts him in his place, discussing Stella Henry (Vernee Watson) had gone to play “Call of Duty: Black Ops 7,” the latest game in the franchise, which is set to be released on all platforms on Friday, November 14.
Stormare’s appearance as The Replacer was part of a sponsorship tie-in with the ABC daytime drama series and video game maker Activision to help promote the release of the game, with his legendary character doing what he does best – stepping in so that people can stay home and play “Call of Duty,” this time filling in for the hospital staff and stirring up more chaos than usual in Port Charles. Incidentally, Stormare also appeared on “Good Morning America” this morning, where he was featured as a director and meteorologist during a promotional segment.

Outside of “Call of Duty,” Stormare has a vast number of acting credits to his name, including voice work on several video games, roles in such shows as “Tracker,” “1923,” “The Box,” “American Gods,” “The Blacklist,” “Prison Break” and “Entourage,” among others. His most recent film work includes “Until Dawn,” “Off the Grid,” “Day Shift” and “Beyond the Sky,” among others.
