“Ransom Canyon” has been renewed for a second season at Netflix, the streaming service recently announced.

Starring “All My Children” alum Josh Duhamel, the Western drama premiered in April and spent four weeks on the streamer’s Global Top 10 list, reaching the Top 10 in 77 countries.

“I couldn’t be happier that Netflix is ready to get back in the saddle for Ransom Canyon,” said April Blair, showrunner and executive producer of the series, in a statement. “Our dreamy little corner of Texas Hill Country is full of stories still untold, and we can’t wait to bring them to our incredible fans. Get ready for another ride.”

Set in Ransom Canyon, where love, loss, and loyalty collide beneath the crimson mesas of Texas Hill Country, the series follows a stoic rancher named Staten Kirkland (Duhamel), who is healing from a heartbreaking loss and is on a quest for vengeance.

With three ranching family dynasties locked in a contest for control of the land, lives and legacies are threatened by outside forces intent on destroying the way of life. Staten’s only glimmer of hope rests in the eyes and heart of Quinn O’Grady (Minka Kelly), a longtime family friend and owner of the local dancehall. As the battle to save Ransom wages on, a mysterious cowboy drifts into town, dredging up secrets from the past while Staten fights to protect the land he calls home, and the only love that can pull him back from the demons that haunt him.

In the season finale, Staten finally gets romantically involved with Quinn, only for her to accept a position at the New York Philharmonic so that she can keep her Ransom dance hall open after a disastrous business deal with Davis (Eoin Macken), her former lover and Staten’s brother-in-law, falls through. “That’s one of my favorite things about this show,” Kelly says of her character’s choice to put herself and her business first. “A lot of times, the women, Quinn in particular, are not making choices that you typically see in a romance on TV.”

As for Staten, he must decide whether to move to New York to be with the woman he loves after the mystery of his son’s death has been solved, or stay behind where everything he knows remains. “Can you imagine Staten living in a studio apartment in New York? No, thank you,” commented Duhamel. “I just don’t think it’s someplace Staten would move … but I’d like to find out.”

The series cast includes James Brolin as Cap, Lizzy Greene as Lauren, Garrett Wareing as Lucus, Andrew Liner as Reid, Jack Schumacher as Yancy, Marianly Tejada as Ellie and Philip Winchester as Dan.

Season 2 is expected to be released sometime in 2026 on Netflix.
