Although an official last airdate for Maurice Johnson as Dr. Ted Richardson on “Beyond the Gates” has not yet been announced, actor Keith D. Robinson, who is assuming the role after Johnson’s exit, recently revealed that fans can expect to see his take on the character beginning Thursday, May 15.
In response to an Instagram follower inquiring about his first airdate, the “Dreamgirls” and “A Million Little Things” star revealed the news in the comment section of a video post he made. The post discussed his starting a new diet and was recorded in his dressing room at the Atlanta-based studio where the daytime drama series tapes.
Since it was announced he would be joining the soap opera, Robinson has celebrated his son’s fifth birthday, released new music, and taped the 100th episode of “Beyond the Gates,” among other milestones.
With his first airdate now known, Robinson is expected to make his debut in the 53rd episode of the soap opera, based on the current airing schedule.
“Can’t wait to do the next thousand with you hubby!!!!” said co-star Daphnée Duplaix, who plays Dr. Nicole Dupree Richardson, the wife of Ted Richardson, in response to Robinson’s Instagram post celebrating the show’s 100th episode.
Before “Beyond the Gates,” Robinson starred as the Green Lightspeed Ranger (playing Joel Rawlings) in “Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue,” as well as memorable roles in such shows as “ER,” “American Dreams,” “Over There,” “Half & Half,” “Canterbury’s Law,” “Monk,” “NCIS,” “Major Crimes,” “Saints & Sinners,” among other television credits.
Earlier this year, Robinson starred in the ALLBLK original drama series “Conspirators,” which follows an elite group of hackers seeking justice while unraveling the truth over a murder by police, where the crime was videotaped by a witness, only for the body to disappear without a trace. “General Hospital” alum Sean Blakemore (ex-Shawn Butler) also stars.
Among films, Robinson’s credits include “This Christmas,” “Dear John,” “Blade: Trinity” and “Fat Albert,” among others.
