On Tuesday, April 2, at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT, the NBC game show “Weakest Link” will return with a batch of all-new episodes, starting with a special episode featuring cast members from “Days of our Lives.” Episodes of “Weakest Link” will be available next day on Peacock.

Hosted by Jane Lynch (“Glee”), the game follows eight contestants as they work together to bank the maximum amount of prize money available in each round, with contestants taking turns answering questions to build chains of correct answers with consecutive correct answers increasing the value of the chain while incorrect answers break the chain and force the contestants to start over from the bottom of the money ladder. The top prize increases with each round but contestants must first vote to eliminate the fellow competitor they consider to be the “Weakest Link” in the chain. The contestant who receives the highest number of votes leaves the game as the host declares the iconic phrase, “You are the Weakest Link. Goodbye.”  

Taking part in the “Days of our Lives” centric episode will be cast members Lindsay Arnold, Bryan Dattilo, Galen Gering, Tina Huang, Victoria Konefal, Martha Madison, Eric Martsolf and Zach Tinker as they compete to earn money for charity.

Despite four of the eight actors listed having exited the soap in recent months, their appearance on “Weakest Link” bears no indication of their possibly returning to the daytime drama series, Soap Opera Network can confirm.

As with many game shows, episodes are taped well in advance. In the case of “Weakest Link,” this particular episode was taped in 2022, ahead of the departures of Arnold, Tinker, Konefal and Madison, who played Allie, Sonny, Ciara and Belle on the soap, respectively.

In a preview clip for the game show’s return, Lynch introduces the show’s cast, starting with a gag that plays up outdated soap troupes, including “I’ve gathered together eight ‘Days of our Lives’ stars to earn money for charity, ‘but is that really why I did it?’” She adds, “They’ll face challenging questions ‘like who’s the father of my unborn twin sister’s cousin’s aunt’s dog sitter,’ and a chance to win one million dollars — ‘now I’d like to see these drama queens try. Haha. Thank goodness they can’t hear what I’m thinking, right? [audience laughter] They can’t hear me, can they?’”

After each actor introduced themselves, Lynch joked, “Well, that was so boring, it took days off our lives,” playing up the show’s title.
