‘Station 19’ to End With Seven Seasons on ABC

The upcoming seventh season of "Station 19" will be the show's last, ABC announced on Friday. Season 7 will consist of just 10 episodes.

The upcoming seventh season of “Station 19” will be the show’s last, ABC announced today. The decision is said to have been made early on in production to allow the show’s writers and producers to craft a proper ending for the “Grey’s Anatomy” spinoff.

Launched in March 2018 as a midseason replacement on ABC’s Thursday night schedule during the “TGIT” era, “Station 19” was a utility player for ABC throughout its run and eventually became the network’s second most-watched primetime drama series, only behind its mothership series among Total Viewers. The series follows a group of heroic Seattle firefighters who put their lives and hearts on the line as they take viewers inside the tough, tight-knit and sometimes heartbreaking world of the city’s bravest first responders.

The seventh and now final season of “Station 19” is set to premiere on Thursday, March 14, following the 20th season premiere of “Grey’s Anatomy.” The series aired at 8:00 p.m. during its most recent sixth season but will end its broadcast run airing at 10:00 p.m.

According to Deadline, the final season will consist of just 10 episodes, including the historic 100th episode mark, with the series ending at just 105 episodes.

Produced by ABC Signature, Krista Vernoff has served as showrunner and executive producer of the series since its third season but will be handing over the reins to Zoanne Clack and Peter Paige with season seven. The show was created by Stacy McKee, with Shonda Rhimes, Betsy Beers, Clack, Alexandre Schmitt and Paige serving as executive producers. ABC Signature is a part of Disney Television Studios.

“For seven seasons, ‘Station 19’ has been a highlight of the ABC lineup thanks to Shonda and Betsy’s incredible vision, beloved characters and compelling storytelling,” said Craig Erwich, president, Disney Television Group. “With Zoanne and Peter at the helm of the upcoming farewell season, we have so much to look forward to, most notably the celebration of the show’s milestone 100th episode.”

“Station 19” stars Jaina Lee Ortiz as Andy Herrera, Jason George (“Sunset Beach”) as Ben Warren, Boris Kodjoe as Robert Sullivan, Grey Damon as Jack Gibson, Barrett Doss as Victoria Hughes, Jay Hayden as Travis Montgomery, Danielle Savre as Maya Bishop, Stefania Spampinato as Carina DeLuca, Carlos Miranda as Theo Ruiz, Josh Randall as Sean Beckett, Merle Dandridge as Natasha Ross and Pat Healy as Michael Dixon.
