With her character shipped off to Bayview Sanitarium last year after she faced charges of attempted murder and planting a bomb at Susan’s memorial service, fans thought they had seen the last of Ava Vitali on “Days of our Lives.” Think again.

Beginning in early August, Tamara Braun will once again reprise her role as Ava on the daytime drama series, and she’ll even get to share her first scenes back working alongside her former “General Hospital” co-star Steve Burton, who now appears as Harris Michaels on the show. Braun portrayed Carly Corinthos (2001-2005) and Kim Nero (2017-2019) on the ABC soap, while Burton played Jason Morgan.

Braun first appeared on “Days of our Lives” in 2008 as Ava. She returned briefly to the show in 2011, this time playing a recast Taylor Walker, the younger sister of Nicole Walker (Arianne Zucker). From 2015-2016, Braun again returned to Salem as Ava before formally extending her stay starting in 2020.

She last appeared on the series on the December 20, 2022 episode when Ava was sent to Bayview, which is where she’ll be when we pick up with her storyline.

In 2020, Braun won a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Performance by a Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for her portrayal of Kim on “General Hospital.” She previously won in the same category in 2009 for her portrayal as Ava on “Days of our Lives.”
