SAG-AFTRA To Hold “Rock the City for a Fair Contract” Rally in New York

SAG-AFTRA to hold "Rock the City for a Fair Contract" Rally in New York with Matt Bomer, Bryan Cranston and several others soap alums scheduled to attend.

On Tuesday, July 25 at 9:30 a.m. ET, SAG-AFTRA will hold a “Rock the City for a Fair Contract” Rally in New York as the union fights to ensure its members receive their fair share of streaming revenues, increased compensation to keep pace with inflation, and an agreement that will give actors informed consent and fair pay when A.I. creates digital replicas of their performance, voice, and likeness.

Those scheduled to attend the event include Lauren Ambrose, Christie Baranski, Matt Bomer, Steve Buscemi, Tituss Burgess, Liza Colón-Zayas, Bryan Cranston, Gregory Diaz, Jennifer Ehle, Nancy Giles, Danai Gurrira, Jill Hennessy, Marin Hinkle, Stephen Lang, Arian Moayed, Wendell Pierce, Christian Slater, Corey Stoll, and Merritt Wever along with many other SAG-AFTRA members who will join SAG-AFTRA National Executive Director and Chief Negotiator Duncan Crabtree-Ireland, SAG-AFTRA Secretary-Treasurer Joely Fisher, SAG-AFTRA New York President Ezra Knight, Executive Director New York Local, Labor Policy and International Affairs Rebecca Damon, along with state and local labor leaders including, WGAE Executive Director Lowell Peterson, NYS AFL-CIO President Mario Cilento, and NYC CLC President Vincent Alvarez.

On July 13, the SAG-AFTRA National Board voted unanimously to call a strike following the conclusion of the TV/Theatrical/Streaming negotiations with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP).

The rally will be held at Times Square Pedestrian Plaza (Broadway between 43rd and 44th streets) in Manhattan, with T-shirts, buttons and stickers available while supplies last. Signs will be provided.
