Scott Clifton (“The Bold and the Beautiful”) has been an advocate of pet adoption for several years, dating back to when he met Bob Barker, the former host of “The Price is Right.” In celebration of his appearance on the Wednesday, April 26 episode of the daytime game show, Clifton reminisces on how much of an impact Barker made on his life and his passion for animals.
In 2014, “The Bold and the Beautiful” featured a storyline where Liam Spencer (Clifton) rescues a cat that he gave to his then-girlfriend, now wife, Hope Logan (played by Kim Matula at the time; now played by Annika Noelle). The storyline incorporated Liam and Hope visiting the South Los Angeles Animal Service Center with episodes featuring Barker along with Brandon McMillan, the then host of CBS’ “Lucky Dog.”
“We’ve [previously] had the chance to work with celebrities and people who are well known in the public eye before on the show, and it’s always fun and usually they play themselves and we try to make them feel comfortable and we cater to them and a lot of the consciousness for us is like, ‘Are they going to be cool? Are they used to working with actors?’” Clifton said in the interview with Soap Opera Network at the time. “All of that went out the window once I met Bob. I can’t tell you what an impressive human being he is. He was so noble. He came on, it wasn’t about self-publicity or anything like that; he really just wanted to push this issue and spread awareness on this as much as he could.
Now, years later, Clifton tells us, “Bob Barker was one of the most impressive people I’ve had the pleasure of meeting during my tenure at ‘Bold & Beautiful.’” He added, “I remember listening to him speak extemporaneously, in the makeup chair, about pet adoption, fostering, spaying and neutering, and his broader philosophy of animal ethics. It was provocative and inspiring, and made me hope for the chance to help further his noble project, even in the smallest way.”

As for his latest appearance on “The Price is Right,” Clifton didn’t hesitate when asked to participate in one of the themed episodes. “When ‘Price’ asked me to join them for Adoption Week, I remembered that day in the chair and jumped at the opportunity. My conversations with Drew [Carey, current host of ‘The Price is Right’] and the wonderful crew were proof that Mr. Barker’s passion for kindness has never departed that soundstage.”
