Drew Barrymore Out with COVID, 50 Cent and Ross Matthews to Host ‘The Drew Barrymore Show’ During Brief Absence

Drew Barrymore announced she has COVID and will miss a few episodes hosting “The Drew Barrymore Show.” Ross Matthews and Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson will step in during her absence.

Drew Barrymore announced via Instagram today that she has COVID and will be absent from hosting her daytime talk show, “The Drew Barrymore Show,” for a few episodes during the week of November 14-18, 2022. The Monday, November 14 and Tuesday, November 15 episodes are primarily impacted as Barrymore will be back to host the remaining week’s worth of originals starting Wednesday, November 16.

“I’ve got covid and lucky the cat! Im good and will be back soon,” stated Barrymore in announcing her absence from the show. She added, “In the meantime @helloross and @50cent are taking over. So only good news to report!!!!! Maybe some other special surprises too!”

Stepping in for Barrymore on Monday, November 14 will be rapper/mogul Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson who fills in for Drew with episodes featuring comedian Ziwe Fumudoh and “Saturday Night Live” star Melissa Villasenor.

On Tuesday, November 15, co-host Ross Matthews steps in for Drew with guests Lindsay Lohan and Ali Lohan for the first half-hour episode and designer Mikel Welch for the second half-hour episode which also features Pilar Valdes as she teaches Ross and Mikel how to make the perfect air fryer cheesecake for Thanksgiving.

On Wednesday, November 16, Barrymore is back with a double pump of episodes featuring culinary artist Ina Garten

Golden Globe winner Anya Taylor-Joy will join Drew on Thursday, November 17 as she discusses her latest film, “The Menu,” followed by an episode with “ESPN Monday Night Football” commentator Joe Buck joining Drew and Ross at the news desk to break down the latest headlines for the day. Also set to appear are sibling duo Aubry Walch and Kale Walch who opened the first vegan butcher shop in the United States. They’ll whip up an all vegan Five Spice Rib Tips recipe as featured in their new cookbook, “The Herbivorous Butcher.”

On Friday, November 18, former “Grey’s Anatomy” star Jesse Williams discusses reprising his role in the Broadway revival play, “Take Me Out,” and “Oprah Daily” Editor at Large Gayle King joins Drew in sharing some of her must-have items from Oprah’s Favorite Things list. Best-selling author Meena Harris stops by to chat about her new holiday picture book, “The Truth About Mrs. Claus.”

“The Drew Barrymore Show” is a syndicated daytime talk show hosted by Drew Barrymore and distributed by CBS Media Ventures, a Paramount Global company. For the show’s current third season, the show is broken into two half-hour episodes giving local stations the opportunity of airing as two back-to-back episodes or as a companion to local newscasts.
