‘AMC’ Alum Amanda Seyfried Joins Zac Efron in Animated Scooby-Doo Film

Amanda Seyfried has been cast as Daphne Blake in the Warner Bros. Animation film, "Scoob," starring alongside heartthrob Zac Efron

Amanda Seyfried (ex-Joni Stafford, “All My Children”) continues making a name for herself in Hollywood. The actress has been cast as the voice of Daphne Blake in the Warner Bros. Animation film, “Scoob,” which tells the tale of the Mystery Machine team as they interact with other animated characters in the Hanna-Barbara universe in a plot to save the world from evil Dick Dastardly. Zac Efron will provide the voice of Fred Jones, Daphne’s oft-rumored boyfriend.

The cast also includes Will Forte as Shaggy, Gina Rodriguez (“Jane the Virgin”) as Velma, Tracy Morgan as Captain Caveman, with Frank Welker set to reprise the voice of  Scoobert “Scooby” Doo. Welker has voiced the character since 2002 and has voiced Fred in multiple “Scooby-Doo” projects since 1969.

Directed by Tony Cervone, the film is set for a May 2020 release.

Deadline first reported the news.
