Callie (Maia Mitchell) and Brandon (David Lambert) struggle to put their secret night together behind them in the Season 3 winter premiere of “The Fosters,” airing Monday, January 25 at 8p on Freeform.

The pair, who finally gave in to temptation and slept together on the show’s summer finale, only to find out that Callie had been legally adopted by Stef (Teri Polo) and Lena (Sherri Saum) the next morning, will spend the rest of the season trying to readjust to each other as siblings.

“[Callie] and Brandon are really putting their feelings for each other completely aside — for good,” said Mitchell in an interview with TVLine.

“Between the two of them, it’s this idea of burying the hatchet. We’re in agreement to leave it alone,” explained Lambert.

Not that it will be easy. “It’s a push and pull. It’s hard for both characters,” admits Mitchell.

Nevertheless, they’re committed to doing it, which will likely mean new loves for each of The Fosters.

“AJ’s (Tom Williamson) back, so you’ll see that relationship develop in a certain way, absolutely,” notes Mitchell, adding that Callie “now has room to explore other options. I don’t think anyone wants to meet the love of their life at 16.”
