BOX OFFICE: ‘Ride Along’ Starring Kevin Hart, Ice Cube and Soap Star Tika Sumpter Grabs Records With $48 Million Haul

Hot on the heels of her starring role in “Tyler Perry’s A Madea Christmas,” “” and “” actress along with actors and is set to take the weekend box office with their new film “Ride Along.”

With an estimated $48.1 million four-day holiday weekend haul, the Universal Pictures movie about a fast-talking security guard named Ben (Hart), who joins his cop soon-to-be brother-in-law James (Cube) on a 24-hour patrol of Atlanta in order to prove himself worthy of marrying Angela (Sumpter), James’ sister, is set to shatter January box office records, reports Deadline Hollywood.

Per the website, PG-13 rated “Ride Along” is already smashing the previous Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday weekend record set in 2008 by Paramount’s also PG-13 rated “Cloverfield,” which took in $40.1 million during its opening weekend.
