(SoapOperaNetwork.com) — ABC announces the date when “One Life to Live” fans can expect to begin seeing episodes of the soap broadcast in 16×9 standard-definition widescreen format.

In an update to a story we first brought you in September, the Alphabet network is planning to take the inital stages of upgrading the only regularly scheduled program on their daytime line to high-definition by year’s end.  That will come in the form of tapiing and broadcasting episodes of “OLTL” in widescreen format, meaning that the images will fill up the entire screen instead of having black bars are either side.  It will also mean improved picture quality (similar to that of a DVD), although not as crisp as high-definition.

“One Life to Live” began taping episodes in the new 16×9 format on Friday, October 26th, which will begin airing on Monday, December 6th.

“One Life to Live” airs Weekdays on ABC. Weeknights on SOAPnet. Anytime on ABC.com and SOAPnet.com. Check local listings.
