John Brotherton Prepares to ‘Drop Dead’ for Lifetime

(SoapOperaNetwork.com) — “One Life to Live’s” former Jared Banks is set to make an appearance in an upcoming episode of the cable television series “Drop Dead Diva.”

From 2007-2009 (and again briefly earlier this year) Brotherton spent his days in Llanview where his character was busy romancing Natalie Buchanan (Melissa Archer). But now the actor is testing the primetime waters, where has hooked another short-term gig.

After appearing as Leo in an episode of the ill-fated Melissa Milano sitcom “Romantically Challenged” back in the spring, Brotherton has landed a guest spot on the the more popular Lifetime series “Drop Dead Diva,” which stars Brooke Elliott as the spirit of dead supermodel Deb Dobkins, who has been reincarnated in the body of brilliant, but overweight (and also recently deceased) attorney named Jane Bingum.

The show has become a popular hangout for soap stars, including Mackenzie Mauzy (ex-Phoebe, “The Bold and the Beautiful”) and Jaime Ray Newman (ex-Kristina, “General Hospital”). Other celebrity guests have included Paula Abdul, Deidrich Bader, Delta Burke, Elliot Gould, Tim Gunn, Ricki Lake, Liza Minnelli, Kathy Najimy, Cybill Shepherd, Rosie O’Donnell, and Chuck Woolery.

Although the name of Brotherton’s character is not clear, look for him to turn up in the August 15th episode of the series, which airs Sunday nights at 9:00 PM ET on Lifetime.
