Soap Opera Network has learned that actor Robert Craighead is returning to CBS’ “The Young and the Restless” next month as Judge Wayne in scenes with Christian Le Blanc (Michael Baldwin), Tracey E. Bregman (Lauren Fenmore), Lauralee Bell (Christine Blair) and Max Ehrich (Fenmore Baldwin).
What decision will he ultimately end up making and on what? You’ll just have to tune into “Y&R” on Monday, February 3 to find out!
Craighead most recently appeared on the soap in an October 2013 episode.
CBS’ “The Young and the Restless” is gearing up for an actor switch in the coming weeks for the character of Billy Abbott, currently played by Billy Miller.
In a newly released behind the scenes image, the series has given fans their first glimpse of David Tom back in the role right alongside his character’s onscreen wife, Amelia Heinle (Victoria Newman). This marks the fist time that the two actors have been seen together on set as Tom left the soap in 2002 and Heinle joined the series in 2005. In a bit of irony, while their characters are married on the show, the role of Victoria was originally played by Tom’s real-life sister, Heather (currently playing Katie Logan on “The Bold and the Beautiful”), back in the day.
As previously reported, “Grey’s Anatomy” star Chandra Wilson (Dr. Miranda Bailey) will be appearing on ABC’s “General Hospital” in scenes alongside Jon Lindstrom‘s Kevin Collins on Wednesday, January 29 (previously scheduled for Tuesday, January 28 before a national preemption occurred on Friday, December 20, 2013). In honor of her upcoming appearance, the show released an image of the actress on set posing with “GH” executive producer Frank Valentini and actor Roger Howarth (Franco).
While character and storyline details are not yet known, a rep for ABC’s “General Hospital” confirms that Shirley Jones, former star of “The Partridge Family” and “Shirley,” will appear on the daytime soap opera in an episode airing next month.
Word of Jones’s appearance on the show first came to light yesterday when “GH’s” William deVry (Julian Jerome) tweeted actor William Shatner (“Star Trek”) and said, “we have Shirley Jones coming to ‘General Hospital’ tomorrow. We r still hoping ur agent will let u join us for a few eps.’” Shatner responded to deVry’s tweet by saying, “You know the last time Shirley and I worked together she played my mother. Send her my love.” The show in which Shatner was referring was TV Land’s “Hot in Cleveland.” An ecstatic deVry replied, “Oh that is amazing!! I will say [to Jones] u say hello.”
Soap Opera Network has learned exclusively that Candice Stewart, best known for her stint on last season’s “Big Brother,” will appear on the Monday, January 13 episode of CBS’ “The Young and the Restless.” The former beauty queen will share scenes with Redaric Williams and his character, Tyler Michaelson.
In a new interview with Highlight Hollywood, former executive producer and head writer of “The Young and the Restless,” Maria Arena Bell, has clarified a statement she made in Soap Opera Digest after the publication released their report on Michael Muhney’s firing from the daytime drama series. In it, she said, “Michael brought amazing dimension and complexity to the role of Adam Newman, and his and Sharon’s [Sharon Case] was a great dark love story. Sadly, that story was seriously derailed in the last year, so I am not surprised that the show would look for a solution to their problematic storytelling decisions. It will be a tough role to recast.” However, with a report by TMZ that says the actor was let go following alleged claims he fondled the breasts of one of his co-stars, Bell now says, “Frankly he should have been let go months before because of his behind the scenes actions.”
As previously reported, Jade Harlow is joining the cast of NBC’s “Days of our Lives” in a recurring role. Now Soap Opera Network can report that the former “Passions” actress will be playing Sheryl, an old friend of Jordan’s (Chrishell Stause), who mixes it up with Kate (Lauren Koslow), Lucas (Bryan Dattilo), Rafe (Galen Gering) and Sami (Alison Sweeney).
In noting her debut on her Facebook page recently, Harlow said, “Happy New Year!!!! I’m thrilled to Finally announce that I’m headed back to NBC with a juicy reoccurring role on “Days of Our Lives”!!! With my 1st air-date just about one week away on 01/07/14… see u in Salem.”
In addition to her 2000-2003 stint as Jessica Bennett on “Passions,” Harlow is currently starring as Lianna Ramos on ”The Bay: The Series,” a soap opera that also features several daytime veterans including “DAYS’” Mary Beth Evans (Kayla Brady).
In Soap Opera Digest’s reporting on the firing of Michael Muhney as Adam Newman on “The Young and the Restless,” in its January 13, 2014 issue, the magazine included a quote from former executive producer and head writer, Maria Arena Bell. In the piece, Bell, who hired Muhney back in 2009, is quoted as saying, “Michael brought amazing dimension and complexity to the role of Adam Newman, and his and Sharon’s [Sharon Case] was a great dark love story. Sadly, that story was seriously derailed in the last year, so I am not surprised that the show would look for a solution to their problematic storytelling decisions. It will be a tough role to recast.”
On today’s episode of NBC’s “Days of our Lives,” Chandler Massey says goodbye to his multi-Daytime Emmy Award winning role of Will Horton. As previously reported, Massey planned to depart the daytime drama series when his contract was set to expire in December 2013, but show producers opted instead to replace the actor upon his completion of his filming of scenes in August of last year, citing the exit as being storyline dictated. Daytime newcomer Guy Wilson took over the role when he began filming scenes in September. He begins airing on Wednesday, January 8.
As a result of the Friday, December 20 preemption, ABC’s “General Hospital’s” is currently behind in its airing schedule. What that means is that the previously scheduled “Home for the Holidays” themed episode set to air today, will instead air on Friday, December 27. Also shifted is the debut of “GH” newcomer Ryan Paevey in the contract role of Nathan West. The character, who was originally set to debut on tomorrow’s episode, will instead debut on the Monday, December 30 episode in scenes alongside Kirsten Storms‘ Maxie Jones, who seeks to get out of town just as Port Charles gets ready to celebrate the New Year as a result of the recent baby drama and the need to clear her head. In real-life, Storms is headed for maternity leave as she’s due to give birth in January to a little girl by husband and former “GH” co-star, Brandon Barash (ex-Johnny Zacchara).
